Hardy Issues 'back us' plea to fans

Hardy Plea - MEN

Shall we back or shall we carry on as normal?

those of us who regular attend will just carry on as normal...

the people who have stopped coming are the ones we need to get back quicker rather than later, but its easier said than done...good old mr penney has lost us much much more fans than any of us could envisage....its going to be hard to get them back, regardless of how much of a good start we have had...

i would say they have to throw the net further to try to attract new fans, the kids free tickets scheme is a good idea, but if its only in the oldham borough then its limited...

my lad goes to siddal moor sports school in hopwood heywood,i know there are at least half a dozen tics kids there, and also a good few in middleton as well...

You can't get the chron anywhere near there I know for a fact. (Despite it being the easiest ground to get to from there)

save your breath alan, this town doesnt deserve a football team

why???

its a supply n demand market out there,if you supply something thats entertaining, value for money and a good experience in a decent enviroment then people will get behind it and jump on board...

however if you dont, and instead price yourself out, dont have a decent enviroment, and it isnt an entertaining experience people simply wont waste there moeny...

saturday for me is this...my admission price £20,kids admission £6,burgers £8:40....

i could quite easily take us all to the cinema, where its nice and warm and watch a very entertaining film in great surroundings and get good value for money for under £18,half price...

and thats what the clubs up against

can get the chron in middleton,i know cos i buy it from there when im down at the kids....you can also get the chron from any town you like if you ask the newsagent to order it in...

but whats the chron got to do with it,the men is our preffered media outlet, and you can get that anywhere across greater manchester.

it boils down too 3 or 4 things to be honest....

1) if we lose a game when people turn up (even if we play well) they dont go again

2) they complain about the prices

3) they complain about the stadium having 3 sides

4) they complain the food has run out by x time

if its not one thing its the other.

the people of the town need to have a long hard look at thereselfs because at the minute the attitude is that they cant be arsed, If they carry on this way WE will not have a football club in 3 years simple

now for me i couldnt care where i watch my team

how :censored: we are because its my team

shame only 3 thousand people feel the same way

You can't get the chron from anywhere near Siddal Moor school, Middleton town centre is not near there and I wouldn't trust the newsagent nearest to order it in either. But this promotion has been advertised up to now in the Chron alone, as far as I know. Is this Hardy comment in the paper edition of the MEN? (Not currently being in Manchester I wouldn't know)

not sure,im on nights this week n havent ventured outside yet,but i will check.

shouldnt matter though to be honest if its in a paper or not....we have done this kinda thing before and not had a great response,so what would be the harm of say sending 100 tickets to schools on the fringe of the area. heywood ,ashton areas.

One problem is that we are under'Rochdale Council',so only Rochdale f.c are allowed to ply their trade in the area.

I HAVE TRIED,but failed many times

Theres alot of uncertainty about the future your right but the point I'm making is football clubs despite being wholly unprofitable business ventures seem to continue to get people being prepared to put money into them its facinating.

Lots of people read the paper as a paper, if they read the paper why would they then go and read it online. For this to be effective it really needs to be in both.

The problem is people are being dragged away from football by delusion that they support one of the billy big bollocks clubs and that they are part of this winning team.

I watch a lot of football myself when i can and also depending of the two teams playing (Barca, Arsenal and a half decent team that can beat the munichs are usually the games of choice) but dont consider it anything to do with supporting a team or watching football because its completely, completely different.

People need to be educated about football before the lower leagues go down the toilet. The media portray the lower leagues as the sort of stuff only a die hard fan could bare to watch, last season with DP maybe but this is very far from the truth. Even when giving lower leagues some coverage (few and far between) its always done with the "its not so bad sometimes" attitude that really annoys me. Compare watching Latics this season to watching Stoke or Blackburn, i know which id rather watch but people dont see that they just see the shiney shiney premiership ooooooh shiney.

We need to teach the kids about supporting your local team and having some values like loyalty rather than just becoming another person who supports a club simply because they cant take losing or the flak from those said idiots because they decided to make thier own choice.

When you actually support a team the £20 doesnt really factor into it (Kids and distance makes things complicated im sure ill be told, luckily none of that to worry about for me :p), its saturday and if you have money in your wallet you are going to go and support your team and enjoy it as long as long as Dave Penney doesnt turn up.

Best thing to do right now is get the attendances up. Spread the word about upcoming games and try get others to go. The attendances rose in Shez's first season down to good football and getting in the play offs. We can do it again.

Obviously not that simple is it?

i have every confidence we can do it again, and at the very least get out of this league and stay in championship for a bit to consolodate...

maybe the club needs to look at local supermarkets and maybe have some kind of stall or stand there selling matchday tickets or something of the like, bigger audience so to speak

Is it possible for Oldham and Rochdale to have some sort of reciprocal arrangement? Like saying Oldham can flog their tickets at such places like Siddal Moor but Dale can flog their tickets at schools in Oldham.
