youngen
After the Leyton Orient game I felt Dickov made some terrible subs that ultimately cost us 3 points. However on Saturday I thought he was spot on with his subs. Evina was getting ripped to shreds off that Vincent fella, and Allessandra wasnt in the game. Ritchie Jones moving to the left and the intro of Paul Black and Dean Kelly brought us to life. Well done Dickov. On another note, as much as I like Lewi on the left I think hes more of an impact player, maybe coming off the bench and turning a game. Strange that a player on the bench who the week before had played a European Qualifing game against the Italians couldnt get the last 15 mins for us against Colchester?? Semi pro coming on instead of an International...... Only at Latics

Oafc88
To be fair the semi pro has seemed the better player at times (addmittedly he hasnt scored yet but then neither has Feeney). Dont wanna knock Feeney though, hope he kicks on now, gets fit and starts to chip in with a couple of goals at least!
beag_teeets
I took it as a kick up the arse to Feeney, when Kelly comes on he chases every ball and runs his socks off, you can't ask a player to do more. For a player to get into our side we want you to pull your tripe out and leave that pitch covered in grass stains, sweat and if needed blood. International or not. Oafc88
yep agree, just doesnt seem right that Feeney didnt get a look in True, though it could be a bit of mind games from the manager to hopefully kick Feeney into gear 'Look Feeney, at the moment i believe a semi pro (though i dont like calling him that, bit demeaning now he is a pro) is doing a better job than you, a full international, for the team!' It could also be a case of just resting him after playing two euro qualifiers, with all the playing and travelling involved, and maybe Kelly seemd fresher. Who knows? lol as i say hopefully Feeney can concentrate on us now and start doing that bit more for the team, hopefully in the form of some goals!! Like i say i don't like to refer to him as that either, was just in reply to Wardle's original tounge in cheek description of him. wardlelatic
Why ? Just because he played for NI doesnt mean he should automatically get a chance No it doesnt, thats why Big T and Taylor started but with 15 mins to go and you have two players of the experience of Warren and Kelly... on the bench, bringing on least experience is just a little strange

Not sure on actual goals scored but we've had plenty from midfield. I suppose the defence could chip in with one or two more, i think only Lee and Black have contributed so far from that department? opinions4u
After the Leyton Orient game I felt Dickov made some terrible subs that ultimately cost us 3 points. Only 2 points lost. We still got a draw. However on Saturday I thought he was spot on with his subs. Almost inspirational. On another note, as much as I like Lewi on the left I think hes more of an impact player, maybe coming off the bench and turning a game. Dickov seems to have a range of choices with a number of interchangeable players, not least switching wingers or the New Taylor. At Brentford Alessandra was very much in the game although it never quite came off for him. Against Colchester less so and it was a good substitution. But I do think Alessandra's ability to hold the ball for a few extra seconds is invaluable, and I think he's better starting than being relied on as an impact sub. mickeylatic
I like Kelly as a player and his attitude looks to be never give up on any ball as soon as he bags( not offside saturday goal) he will bag big time

As for the changes on Sat; I think they were spot on. Kelly made a massive difference; & the more I see of him; the more I rate the lad - I think he has 'something'. As for Feeney not coming on - again; spot on for me too. I see it as a reality check / kick up the bum for Warren - "you may have played against Italy and be 1st choice for NI; but you've not delivered so far at all for Latics, so I'm going with the young Irish lad who is chomping at the bit to get on & prove himself." Special mention to Paul Black who did really well when he came on. Exactly the right way to answer the manager for dropping you. Had the dangerous Vincent in his pocket & didn't put a foot wrong in his 15/20mins.

slystallone
Didnt Vincent go off as Black came on? Nope. Black came on (IMO like) as Evina was getting rinsed by Vincent and after his booking for the bad late sliding tackle; he was scared to go near him, or even look to tackle him. Black came on and immediately Vincent's threat was nullified. He (Vincent) was subbed later on for Henderson (who again Black did well against) Edited October 18, 2010 by slystallone
bluehobbit
Am i the only one who thought Kelly looked out of his depth on saturday. Previous appearence ive thought he had something to work with but saturday i thought he looked a yard shor on pace and lost anything played up to him. Vincent was injured when he went for the slide at the back post i think - he wasnt moving to freely after that then came off
