Ackey
How To...? Change your Avatar (Personal Image) for OWTB Your Avatar is the image which appears next to your name after every post, and can be changed to most things, however OWTB remind members that images which are copyrighted to someone else are not allowed, and that their usage puts the user and not OWTB at fault regarding possible legal matters. OK, so How To...? First, go to your Control Panel (which is where you can make many changes to your profile), located in the top right hand corner of the site, as can be seen here: Now, on the left hand side you need to click here: This will open up the Avatar options menu. You now have three choices. Option 1. Select an image which OWTB has stored from the drop down menu. Simple as. Option 2. Select an image which is already on the Internet. For this you need a URL for the image. (If you are unsure how to get the URL you can see the start of the How To...? Insert Images thread (here) for a guide.) Make sure that the link starts with 'http://' and ends in one of the allowed file types (.gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png) So, now you have the URL copied you can paste it into this box: Once you have done this you can click on 'Update' at the bottom and you should see your new image appear where your old one once was. Option 3. select the image from you own computer. To do this click on the button marked 'Browse' and move around you folders until you find the image you want (If you have made it yourself this is probably in the 'My Documents' folder). Once you have selected the image you want click 'Open'. Now you can click 'Update' and you should see your image appear above, where your old one was. Key Points / Tips The key thing to note when selecting an image is that it will automatically be sized to fit the size allowed by the OWTB site. If you know how to re-size the image yourself then it needs to be 90x90 (Pixels). If you do not know how to do it then it is better to simply select an image which is square, as whilst it will be re-sized it retains the proportions it already has and thus will still look OK. If anyone has an image they want me to re-size then I am willing to do that, if you have it then PM me the URL, if it's on your computer then PM me and I'll tell you where to email it. (This offer is subject to me being pretty busy and it may take me a while to get it back to you, I also can't promise to do them all if I'm getting loads of requests at once... PM me and at the very least I'll tell you when to expect it). As always, any questions or if you just want to practice any techniques then this is the place to do it. PM link is in my signature below. Ackey, OWTB Team
