Bury Lose Lowe

Lowe signs for Wendies

Huge huge loss for Bury in my opinion, if he is not adequately replaced they could be making a very swift return to league 2

Big gamble imo. Last season was his one and only prolific season. He's started well this season but let's see how he copes in pastures new AND at 32 he's only ever gonna be a means to an end for the Wendies - ie get us out of this league then we'll bin you…..

However, what it does mean is yet more local competition for A N Other Striker that we are scrambling around for on deadline day, and another club with cash on the hip whilst we offer brass buttons and magic beans….

Not sure they should have let him go, as I thought they stood a chance of sneaking into the play-offs thanks to his goals. Having said that, I suspect they've got a very decent fee for a 32-year-old.

Been told by a Bury fan at work rumoured to be £150k?

Not a lot that, although he is 32!

Big loss for Bury after his performances and goals for them in the 2 years he's been there.

But, at 32 years old - it’s a strange one really.

Clubs tend to look for re-sale value if they pay a fee and at his age; the Wedies aren't going to get that. £150K (if that's what it was; it does say 6 figures) is also a pretty large fee to pay for a striker who is a.) 32 and b.) a gamble that might not pay off in terms of recreating his goal scoring away from the club he was settled at.

From Bury's POV; it’s a lot of a gamble to simply take the cash now; instead of holding onto him and using his goals to keep you in the division and fire you as far up the league as you can get. I'd guess they have a plan B in place; otherwise it looks a poor decision to 'take the cash & run'.

Would Bury have had much say in the matter? Once the player was aware of Wednesday's interest, I'd say his mind was made up.

Like you say, he's 32 and this is a big move at this stage of his career.
