Mellor looks quality to me.

A cool head on young shoulders.

Not only on the pitch but also off it as demonstrated earlier in the gym.

A very scantily clad stunner came into the pool area and headed into the steam room.

Instead of scrambling out of the jacuzzi like most of us would have done, he didn't dive in but bided his time before nonchalantly climbing out & slowly strutting his way into a steam room he was blatantly never visiting til this bird turned up.

Good lad :applause1:

Mellor for me, but it's a little harsh on Hughes or McGrath — I haven't seen them play at all.

Along with Bembo - Leta both have had injury problems, Hughes is now fully fit and looks promising, but needs to work a lot harder off the ball IMO.

Mellor looks a real prospect; in more than 1 position too. He didn't look out of place in the game where he came on at CB (which was strange at the time as we had Matty Carr on the bench IIRC; a CB by trade), and he's looked equally good at LB & LM. It's still very early days for him, after 5 starts, but for me he has an excellent chance in the pro game.

I rated Tarky last season; and barring a nightmare where he's forgotten how to kick a ball whilst he's been out injured; I guess I still do now. He looked so very composed for one so young; and in a pressure-cooker position like CB; he was rarely found wanting. Again, barring anything stupid; he has an excellent chance.

Winchester; I see both the pro's & con's with. Again he's very composed on the ball for his age, and as his goal last season showed; he has a shot on him but, his decision making a lot of the time is very suspect and he isn't exactly 'stacked' physically is he; so he's brushed off the ball too easily for me. Jury is still out IMO…..

DJ Bembo did look a cracker - he was outstanding Vs Notts Country last season, and he looked to be the 'next one' from the youths who is would be only a matter of time before they moved on to better things. But, I do worry that the shocking injury he had will have massively set him back; maybe irreversibly for our level. The wound doesn't seem to have ever healed; and after a full year out of the game; at his age - that's a big chunk of time to have been out & not developing. Guess time will tell with him. I hope he comes back just as bright as he was; because if he does; we've a heck of player on our hands.

Once again; this thread should include a tip of the hat to TP & MP and the tremendous work they continue to do with our youth side. There really aren't many sides around who can claim to have produced so many players who have come through the youth side & gone on to become established 1st team players with the frequency we have produced over the last 5+ years…….

Agreed, and there's more in the pipeline, I was very impressed with right winger Chris Sutherland in a youth match recently. I was talking to a coach of a higher level club about Sutherland and he rated him a very exciting prospect.

Incidentally, Tarkowski played in that game and looked like his old self - a class act.

not many L1 teams can say theyve got a youth teamer playing international football, so i went for winchester. i know it's only northern ireland, but he's been solid when he's come on, he can play RB, RM, CM and scored a great goal vs MK. mellor has had a good start and so did tarkowski so they're not too far behind either

Ha ha, I regularly use that ploy at the JJB!

  • 2 weeks later...

I rate Hughes more than I do Millar or McGrath on the wings. Think he could be a very good left midfielder, he has pace to burn and plenty of tricks.

How's Laird doing this season? He performed really well last season but not heard much of him this term.

Pah. If I was knocking about in the bubble bath she'd have come and sidled up to me in there - not gone the opposite way to the steam room.

I ended up on a girls lap in the jacuzzi one time - I was just floating away with my eyes closed and before I knew I floated onto this monster and with the currents I couldn't steer myself away. Another time I ended up on an old man's lap after loosing my footing whilst climbing in...

Who's the tw@t who nicks the towels in there...you go for a steam and come out and your towel's gone. So, obviously I have to do the same to somebody else then and hope I've not taxed some pumped up angry stedhead's towel...
