Alec1954
Can anyone remind me what this guy did to himself injurywise? How long has he been out and when is he due back?

He fell over trying to take the ball round the Rochdale keeper. Think it was ankle ligaments - not snapped though. 12 weeks out I think (so due back in a month or so). Gonna be interesting to see how we do without Reid, he's worked hard granted and it's great to see him finally putting in a shift but one goal from open play in 14 league and cup games suggests someone now has the opportunity to step up to the plate besides Shefki….As hard as Reid as worked, has he seriously looked like scoring? I thought we looked much more threatening with Kuqi up front on his own with Taylor, Morais and Simpson all dropping in behind/reverting wide to cover it could be the way to go and use Kuqi to his real strength…. I've posted before that I believe Morais is a home game player; and when we are at home; I'd be lining up in a 4-4-1-1 formation; like we did once Morais came on Vs the Mongs. For me; Morais is a player that is so bloody frustrating; he has the ability on the ball to change a game; but he also goes missing & is less effective for the side when played out on the wing - he doesn’t see enough of the ball in areas that he can hurt the opposition & his positional indiscipline oftern leaves us exposed. When played off a central striker - like he did off Ourmare at times last season; and as I say on Monday night; he is a threat & is someone who can turn a game from a position where he becomes more effective. I'd then maybe look to go 4-5-1 away from home; asking wide left & wide right to make it a 4-3-3 when attacking but to track back when pressing / defending - with Morais on the bench. The central 3 of Wes, Furman and the Tom Adeyemi we saw on Monday; not the previous version; a a 3 in the middle have enough energy to make it a viable formation for picking up hard earned away points. If Kuqi tires / gets injured / suspended - we have Reid & Smith to fill in. If Morais gets injured or suspended; the 'in the hole' role can pass to Josh Parker when he gets fit again. It looks, on paper, promising attacking wise - far more so than it has over recent years……

It really does not bear thinking about. Whilst Smith, Reid et all can do a certain job, we all kno how much a difference Kuqi makes. LEts hope some of it has rubbbed off on them

LEts hope some of it has rubbbed off on them Yet we still picked up a win at Scunthorpe and beat Rochdale at home without Kuqi, no doubt Kuqi's a big influence but he biggest issue early doors was the midfield, now Furman's back unsurprisingly the previously lack-lustre Adeyemi has upped his game considerably. The defence has upped its game over the last couple of games which always help. Despite his late mistake when he failed to react (and if he had he may well have stuck in his own net anyway) I thought Diamond had his best game for us on Monday.
