This season with the new categorising of matches it's the same £18 for cat B, £15 for cat C ( saving £3 ) but £23 for cat A ( a rise of £5 ) therefore making it more expensive to watch the team this season. Considering the results and form we had towards the end of last season, i think this is one of the reasons we find it difficult to gain support. However you dress it up, people find the cost of attending a match prohibitive these days.

But, playing it with a straight bat, 15 out of 23 games are cheaper this season than last season. For that the club deserves massive credit. The lowest crowds for league games have, ironically, been those with the lowest price. The price isn't the issue. Scoring goals at BP and winning games at BP is. We haven't done that much since Shez was manager.
Break The Silence
Mike Newton frightens me to friggin' death. He brings out a deep rooted inner fear that, until now, I thought I had buried with my teens and the arrival of puberty. It got worse when I saw him wearing that jet black 3/4 length coat at the last home game. I don't know how to do "linky things" but if he looked any more like that vampire out of Fright Night i'd actually stop attending night games for fear of finding him waiting for me in the shadows behind the Chaddy End with his coat flapping in the wind behind him and a murderous look in his bloodshot eyes. If I ever see him eating an apple and then licking his teeth I swear i'll physically :censored: myself Edited November 17, 2011 by Break The Silence

GlossopLatic
So nothing on a new stadium development, nothing on new investment, and no plans for non matchday revenues? Unless those problems are sorted out then our ambitions will be limited quite considerably and more than likely only ever to be to the bottom 2 divisons. Now so far Ive enjoyed the football weve played this season overall especially after that feeling I had after walking out against sheffield united when I thought we were in for a long season. But being realistic if you want to get people back through the gates their has to be a grand plan and preferably one with a wow factor, right now there is none so we will just struggle on in a 3 sided stadium with just us diehards making up the crowd. singe
I am pleased to see Mike Newton has kept a low profile since he arrived, and has spoken sense in this interview. I'd like to see his blogs back, they were a good insight. I hope we neever see the return of the Mike Newton that was trying to take over Vale and to a lesser extent Stocky though. At face value things seem a bit more stable now, whilst obviously much needs to be done. It will be interesting to see what actions are planned to address the issues highlighted. A bit more consistency on the ptch will go a long way, and some of the players coming back from injury at this key time of the season will help no end. Frankly Mr Shankly
Are cat B matches not the same price as last season? In the Paddock the on the day price is £1 cheaper. But, Cat A games are a vast increase on last season, more so than the drop to Cat C. So in effect, a pay-on-the-day fan who goes every match pays a bit more. But then if he goes every match then he ought to have a ST. I must admit, when it's a Cat A and I'm handing over my £23 I wince. One of the real galling factors about the Bury game was what it cost to get in, with the match effectively over by half 3. At least one match, the Franchise Scum one, the ticket price has put me off. Although being skInt & awful weather helped make my mind up too.

Buy ticket in advance: Cat "A" games are 28% higher. Cat "B" games are Unchanged. Cat "C" games are 17% lower.
rudemedic
Unless you live within walking distance from BP and walked to the ground to buy a ticket in advance, buying in advance at £2 cheaper didn't save you any money- once you factor in petrol costs. OK if you could get a bus for free it did but it wasn't worth it for most people so very few bothered. I'm not that bothered about average attendances, I'd fancy our gate receipts to be up this year from league games- nearly 4000 away fans at £23 for Sheff United almost guaranteed that on its own. Lookers_Carl
Whilst it is obvious this new categorised ticketing is not to everyones liking (certainly the Cat A), I think the fairest ting to do would be wait until the end of the season and then assess it. I look at it this way, on the positive side. In the RRE this season - For the 8 Cat A games, it is £3-£5 dearer than last season. - For the 8 Cat B games, it is £2 cheaper than the pay on the door price last season - For the 7 Cat C games, it is £3-£5 cheaper than last season So approximately 2/3 of the home games are same price or less as the entry price last season. People will pay to see a winning side, doesn't matter how much the admission price is. It's very, very simple.....
