Looks like its Southend in Round 2

Recommended Posts

Yep. Good tie.

I'll go, a new Ground and a Winnable tie, Preston aren't exactly on the up and they didn't look too bright at Dagenham.

Only thing I'm worried about is whether the Sheep lovers will let us play Simpson.

he's played for us already in round 1 so he is therefore eligible for the other rounds, added to the side note that huddds are out!

Winnable but will be tough - Southend are flying at the moment.

Good to see that PD was at the game last night <_<

it gives us another two games in a row against L2 sides and both have beaten L1 side(s) do far this season, good tests.

get some confidence from good performances in these two and we'll be set up for sheff wednesday and charlton in december

I didn't realise if he played in the First round he could play in the next Round(s?).

I'm not used to us winning Cup games you see

The parent club can always say which game the loan player can play in and which he can't. Even though Simpson did play in the first round (so therefore cup-tied should he go elsewhere this season; Hudds are already out of the cup), Hudds can still stipulate he doesn't play in the second round, or JPT or whatever. But it doesn't make sense because he is already cup-tied for both competitions. They can still say Nathan Clarke doesn't play in FA Cup, as he won't then be cup-tied and makes him a more attractive target should they try to sell him in January.

The can't just change their minds halfway through a loan period though.

It's all written in to the loan agreement.

A bit like we forgot to insert the "Rickett's can't play against Latics" clause a few years back.

Fairly sure that it's a ruling that loan players can't play against their parent club and not a clause, due to conflict of interests and all that. Ricketts played against us after we terminated his contract and he'd signed for Walsall.

Match report says he was on loan.

But for cup ties, where situation can change during the loan spell in a way unforeseen before the loan was agreed, I'm sure the parent club can withold permission when they think fit. For league games, there is usually a clause specifying if he can play against the parent club or not. We have in the past given permission for our player on loan to play against us.
