laticsrblue
Can someone explain how Simpson has got into the situation where he cannot play for anyone (according to the official site) till January. Why can't he play for Huddersfield? He's their player!
opinions4u
He can play for Huddersfield. They don't want to select him.
laticsrblue
From Latics site. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsUpdate/0,,10337~2548722,00.html "However, over the weekend Terriers manager Lee Clark informed Simpson he was free to train with Latics until the transfer window reopens on January 1st. Simpson cannot play anywhere until then, but is keeping fit by training at Boundary Park." Edited December 16, 2011 by laticsrblue
opinions4u
The only team he can play for is Huddersfield. They have chosen not to play him. So there's nowhere that he's able to play.
bossrocks
Surely they could terminate his contract allowing him to sign for someone as a free agent? If that's correct the fact that they've not done it suggests they'll want some money in January (or maybe they can't agree severance terms). Ridiculous that we can't just extend his loan. Even if they did free transfer him now, he still couldn't play until January.
maddog
The query was about releasing him and making him a free agent, not about a free transfer. Is that different?
Microcuts
Surely they could terminate his contract allowing him to sign for someone as a free agent? If that's correct the fact that they've not done it suggests they'll want some money in January (or maybe they can't agree severance terms). Ridiculous that we can't just extend his loan. We took up his loan outside of a transfer window meaning the maximum is 3 months, which surpassed hence we have 16 or so days before we can renew a 'long term loan' as opposed to a 'short term loan'. The query was about releasing him and making him a free agent, not about a free transfer. Is that different? It is different, but it is a loophole that is closed. You cannot sign a player who has been contracted to another FL club during the same transfer period. If he had been a free agent since the end of August, then I believe we would be able to sign him in accordance with EU and UK employment law, however FL league rules state otherwise. I believe (could very well be wrong) that this does not apply with Scottish clubs, similar to the case that allowed Porter to leave for fook all. RobOAFC
The query was about releasing him and making him a free agent, not about a free transfer. Is that different? Think there's a deadline as to when players can be registered by. Obviously one is 1st September, and for lower league teams, after an inital week from first of September, they can sign on loan, or free agents until a certain date where they then have to do with what they have got until January, unless of course the player hasn't been on loan with them for 3 months and is renewed before expired, or if the said player is on a month to month type contract with the club. bossrocks
Sounds like he really is stuck unable to play then. Always thought the loan system was inflexible in cases like this.
