opinions4u
Linky to Fishal Thier caretaker manager has a cracking quote at the bottom: "I've noticed on previous visits if we can keep the fans quiet for the first 20/30 minutes they are not afraid of voicing their opinions". How about a 30 minute unbroken chant of "Paul Dickov's blue and white army" on Monday from all 3 stands, only suspended should we score? opinions4u
I don't think I've ever been more up for a Boxing Day game than today! Hope the players are the same!

OK, on the proviso that if anyone sits anywhere near me with a drum, they will end up wearing it.
GlossopLatic
Lets hope we get a decent crowd today Boxing day fixtures usually get a better than average crowd and with the cup runs reig niting some enthusiasm in the town a win here may really help us boost attendences. Not wanting to sound downbeat but traditionally this is then the sort of game we would put in a lacklustre performance culminating in a 1-0 defeat. Would be nice to buck that trend, we shall see. Bearing in mind that there is less than 20 mins to go, I am drinking, ney, slurping Wild Turkey in Brisbane's stinking heat at 2:36am, we are losing 1-0; should your self-fulfilling prophecy eventuate, I shall never speak to you again! daveoafc77
Worst performance for quite a while. Dickov needs to look at mixing up a bit and dropping one or two of the untouchables for a game or two, although I guess its hard as we are struggling with a few injurys. Just no imagination, no fight, no positives from that performance for me
steveoafc
Our inconsistancy continues to frustrate us in our attempts at building up any long lasting momentum.

24hoursfromtulsehill
I'm not one to criticise, but they scored about five minutes after we went down to 10 men. Second year of management and still a bit...naive.
steveoafc
We seem to have this ability to turn in a shocker when the crowd is slightly higher than normal or we're trying to entice more to attend.
Senor_Coconut
I remember why I don'#t go anymore, that was shocking. Really shocked at how poor we passed the ball in the first half with Clarke and Diamond looking like the reincarnation of Guy Branston. opinions4u
James Wesolowski dislocated his shoulder, third time it has happened this season. This time, muscles in spasm so couldn't go back in. (Source: Matt Chambers Twitter feed)

steveoafc
Good to see the players are not distracted by the Anfield game We really need to keep focused on the league. The feel good factor that has been steadily built up recently, can so easily come crashing down with many more performances of this calibre. dannyboy55555
My first game of the season and it was truly awful. Lack of effort all round, Furman and Parker excepted. Heart attacks every time Diamond or Clarke were on the ball, Scappuci too lightweight (though should have scored) and Kuqi looked knackered. Ran out of pies at half time AGAIN and any chance of putting a lightbulb in the gents??? Still - onwards and upwards eh? Oh and Dickov totally at fault for failing to make the Wesolowski change quick enough. Was inevitable they would score. ghostofcecere
Yep we did it again, higher than average crowd, higher level of expectation due to the upcoming cup games, laclusture bore home defeat. Will it ever change?
BP1960
Some very poor performances today, and although Kuqi has been Latics saviour in the the past this was a match when he was beaten to the ball time and time again, as for Adeyemni - did he touch the ball above a dozen times in the whole game ? Again a team of too many lightweights out muscled. The plain fact Hartlepool looked like they wanted it more and got the result they fully deserved. Cisak 6 - Not much to do, though almost caught out by hesitation once. Parker 7 - At least he tried hard and showed some genuine pace, if sometimes wayward with his crosses. Diamond 6 - Ordinary Clarke 6 - As above, two peas in a pod. Mellor 5 - Looks out of his depth at full back with his lack of pace a worry. Morais 6 - Frustratingly often caught in possession, but did occasionally spring to life. Weslowski - Injured first minute. Furman 7 - Probably equal with Parker on effort. Scapuzzi 5 - Showed pace but missed one golden chance to level it. Too lightweight and often brushed aside. Kuqi 5 - A poor performance and won little in the air or on the ground, never looked like scoring. Taylor 6 - Flitted in an out of the game. Adeyemi 4 - Hardly any contribution despite being on the pitch for almost all of the match. Smith 5 - Just doesn't punch his weight. PD: 4 - Very naive in waiting so long to substitute Wesolowski. rosa
Wesolowski's injury seemed to completely throw us but that's not an excuse for that performance. I assume they all had a good Christmas cos they played like they were nursing hangovers. No urgency,no concentration, constantly wanting too long on the ball. Cisak had a decent game, Taylor was at least giving it a good go but other than that it's hard to take any positives from that.
