owdumer
Has anyone else noticed that over the last several games we have conceded half or a third as many freekicks as have been committed against us? Whilst not advocating us kicking the opposition into submission, does it possibly demonstrate that we may be a little lightweight at times? beag_teeets
I'd say that teams are resorting to kicking us as the only way of stopping players such as Taylor, Morais, Simmo and Luca, if they let these lads play nicely then they will be punished. GlossopLatic
Its a sign we are on the ball you don't give away freekicks by having Possession of the ball, we just need to make more of the chances and the Possession that we have in games. Its possible to over analyse things when we are not getting results the only thing we need to do differently is take our chances and stick it in the back of the net. The only lightweight in the squad is Matt Smith - he almost seems scared to use his obvious advantages - or is he still growing..?

He's 22 if he's still growing, as opposed to bulking up, then there is something wrong.

He isn't used to be having so little time on the ball etc yet, but he does need more game time than being given. Especially when other strikers are not performing. owdumer
My point is more along the lines of, are we making our presence felt in the tackle/challenge in important areas of the field and perhaps conceding territory/possession that some of the more physical teams {Brentford,Stevenage etc.}don't. We have struggled at times to impose ourselves on teams that we simply should outclass, but the hard fact is that you cannot outplay anyone without the ball. Having said that, of course we don't need to give away free kicks on the edge of the box!

How many times has he header over or hit the bar ? Think he seems to jump to high or it comes off the top of his head Needs to go on loan and play 90 mins regular who have 2 good crossers of the ball

Considering we give less fouls than oppo, that would suggest we apply the necessary, acceptable force into a challenge, and win the ball. The amount the oppo concede in fouls, suggests that we have more of the ball and they are not quick enough to nick the ball off us, and instead end up taking the player instead.
