stargazer
We haven't scored more than 1 goal in a game in six games in January. Hard to believe the way Kuqi was scoring earlier in the season , how important was that penalty miss at their place ?

Hard to believe the way Kuqi was scoring earlier in the season , how important was that penalty miss at their place ? Like Tonk last season, PD is persevering with a striker that is on a horrendous run. Kuqi was unlucky with the header last night but i'd like to see Smith and Parker given a go. Simmo could play wide - so much of his good work is done out wide anyway. And FFS drop Taylor! Team for Orient Cisak Lee M'Voto Tarky/Diamond Black Simmo Wes Adeyemi/Furman Marsh-Brown Smith Parker Then when Reid is fit, he's back in for Smith unless he hits a goal glut. As for Kuqi, we got carried away with his purple patch, but we are now seeing everything I thought we would. The sulking, the petulance and the ineffectiveness that has seen him become a journeyman since he left Palace.Last night he lost it big-time, the game was going on but he was more interested in having a go at the ref. Kuqi's been good for us for most of his time here, but he needs a break, time to regain focus. One goal in 14 is just not good enough….. Fruitygoo
Over the last few weeks, kuqi has been fairly poor in his alround game..... Last night i thought, with the exception of one of his finishes, he actually played quite well. He hit the post which was unlucky and the keeper pulled of a save from a diving header. He fluffed one effort badly in the first half but i thought his all round contribution was pretty good - he chased and hustled everything..even held the ball and spread play better than he has in a while. I can't say a bad word about a man who clears the ball from a corner then 5 seconds later is being dragged down on the edge of the opposition box from a counter attack.. his frustration (although partly to do with lack of goals) came from a referee who gave nothing when he was pushed and pulled all over, yet constantly blew up when shefki used his strength to out-muscle a man. That one in the second half (i heard that pr1ck (birtles?) on sky say it wasn't shoulder to shouler when i got home) when it clearly was, was the one that tipped him over. Our problem is that he often drops deeper and needs a man in behind him for flick ons....yet simpson is also dropping deeper to pick up the ball. First half, there are two great examples of what we can do. The first where shefki and simpson played closer together linked up and shefki ended up hitting the post from a good move. The second, was where taylor ran in behind and shefki almost found him. At times our build up play is too slow and we delay a cross into the box too long...shefki will score goals if you whip crosses in on his head - but the quality of service is often lacking. Up untill last night, i'd have said he needs a break, but he deserves to stay in the side after that effort!

That's more like it prozac, but I feel PD is a stick in the mud with his Kuqi/Simpson combination. Taylor though for Adeyemi - who goes missing in action too often for my liking.
