Dave_Og
Going to the game on Saturday? I'd be interested to see what you think of a couple of our (Bishop's Stortford) players. I think there are currently 13 ex BS men playing in the Premiership/FL and am always keen to spot the next. Two jump out in what has been and will continue to be a difficult season: Alli Abdulahi - defensive midfielder who has that knack of always being in the right place at the right time. Nothing flash but man of teh match 7 times out of ten for me. Dwight Gayle. Can't quite work him out. Seems a bit lightweight and can disappear but to be in the league's half dozen leading scorers playing for a struggling side that don't score many suggest there is something there! If we get something out of the game I'll guarantee that the home fans will hate Reece Prestege by 5pm but of they're honest would like him in their side and if Ricky Sappleton plays then the Bloods defenders will know about it - makes Emile Heskey look like Darcy Bussell. Yes I'm going Dave and will check them out for you. To fill you in about Droylsden, they are an excellent passing team, all of them are comfortable on the ball with midfielder Dan Gardner the stand out player, most on this site know I rate him highly and I have yet to see a more intelligent and skilful player in Division One, watch out for his elegant surging runs and top class distribution. If Bishops let him have a sight of goal from 20 yards he will likely score, so he must be closed down quickly at all times. Droylsden score plenty of goals, Kilheeney is a good striker while centre forward Johnson holds the ball up exceptionally well, but they are often wide open to the counter attack, a quick mobile striker would cause them problems. I have seen Sappleton and indeed he is an handful, from your description I can see a battle royal with Nat Kerr the fiery Droylsden centre back. I'm sure it will be a good exciting game, enjoy the clubhouse while you are there. Edited February 16, 2012 by BP1960

Won't make it myself - can't really justify a 400 mile round trip for that but will have a keen eye on proceedings

I would say he could play at an higher level as prolific goal scoring right wingers are quite rare, my concern like yours is he is very lightweight. Sappleton was very quiet by his standards. The others you mentioned did not start. On clear cut chances Bishops should have won the game 6-4, expect much of the same when Droylsden play at Bishops on 3rd March. Dave_Og
Cheers. Abdullahi would have been a big miss. Gayle isn't really a winger but probably playing a bit wider due to Sappleton's arrival. Hard to tell on limited recent evidence. He's on a dual registration deal with Dagenham (close links between the clubs) so I imagine he'll end up there next season, especially if they go down again. His Dad played for Stortford before my time. Will be there I think on 3 March. Two objectives for this season. Stay up (much more likely since managerial change) and get back in Conf South whichdepends more on others!
