oafcprozac
it was always going to be after the Lord Mayor's show tonight, but we really should have won that game at a canter. We must have the most brainless players in the League, in KMB we have signed a threat but one similar to Jermaine Johnson or Craig Dudley. He does everything right then his head goes and he makes the wrong decision. Despite this, we managed to hit the the woodwork twice, were denied by a couple of good saves, hit great chances straight at the keeper and were denied the most stonewall penalty you will EVER see. The referee was :censored:ing useless. As for PD I thought the substitutions were required but KMB was knackered and out of the game after about an hour, Taylor offered a threat still imo yet he was subbed. KMB then puts in a terrible challenge and gets a deserved red, then the ref loses control. I have to say we'll play worse than that and win, and that imo was our best home LEAGUE performance since we hammered Chesterfield in November, but if you can't defend you concede :censored: goals. We are missing organisation at the back and one of M'Voto or Tarky has to be sacrificed, as good as Tarky is he drops massive positional mistakes and needs an old head alongside him. Definitely three points dropped, if we had a finisher we'd be between 8 and 10 points better off. Instead we huff and puff for an hour, then go to sleep. Many positives tonight but we need to sort out our defence. Cisak - nothing to do, makes it all the worse! Lee - How he didn't get a pen is beyond me, caught out for the winner apart from that very good M'Voto - Needs to learn to stay tighter at set-pieces Tarky - See above, but so good on the ball Mellor- Thought he had a torrid night, singled out and targeted by Scunny Morais - Thought his goal was an og, good first-half wish players would read where his crosses are going. Shame our forwards are so brainless Brown - Played deep to protect the back four, worked in open play - shame we can't defend set-pieces Adeyemi - His best game in weeks, constantly drove us forward Taylor - Again drove us forward, put a couple of decent balls in thought he could have helped Mellor more before he switched wings Kuqi - Wasted good chances by snatching at them KMB - Brilliant and infuriating at the same time, if he had a brain he'd be awesome. Late two footed challenge, summed him up..thick as pig :censored: but exciting pig :censored: Subs: Smith and Reid no chance to impress Going back to the ref, I looked his name up earlier today and knew we were in for a bad night. Anyone promoted from the Conference is usually donkey :censored:e, that clown needs to go back to Snow white and his 6 mates, he was awful. Aside from the pen that wasn't given, the first goal from a corner that never was and the winner looked to be suspiciously off-side. Please don't send him to BP again in a hurry. I usually don't blame referees but he deserves a special mention tonight, the :censored:! Overall, there were still more positives than negatives and it was a highly entertaining game, where we looked a bigger threat than we have for weeks. If only we could finish the chances we create and if only we can defend simple balls into the box….ah well bring on Yeovil and their usual 0-0 draw at BP…… Good crowd tonight, I hope they can see the positives from that peformance….. Frankly Mr Shankly
it was always going to be after the Lord Mayor's show tonight... I kinda describe an "After the Lord Mayor's show" performance as one really poor one after a really good one. But I thought we played absolutely superbly tonight, and just suffered with losing our concentration after 75 minutes. The chances we created and football we played for huge swathes of that game were scintillating. Even a draw would have been a bit of a travesty after that. Fair play to Scunny. They rode their luck good and proper and pounced when it mattered. A vintage away performance. Certainly in no way deflated and pissed off after that. A lot of positives and I applaud a Latics team that gives their all. We are missing organisation at the back and one of M'Voto or Tarky has to be sacrificed, as good as Tarky is he drops massive positional mistakes and needs an old head alongside him. Tarky had a really tough game against that lump Parkin. Came off second best to a wily head and easily lost the physical battle against him. That said, I still thought he came through with a bit of credit. He'll have learnt a lot after tonights game. opinions4u
I thought it was a cracking game with a great atmosphere. While I want to see my team win, I also want to see them give it a real go and entertain. They did this tonight. Their lad who was sent off ... did the ref book him and forget to send him off at first, before going back over to him a minute later and showing the red? Or was I just a tad disorientated? Additionally, do we have a suspended fine for failing to control our players v Carlisle last season? eddyblue
Played some great passing football tonight but unfortunately Scunthorpe were able to ride their luck with the assistance of a very poor referee. Disappointing result obviously but good match and a decent atmosphere in the ground
oafc-latics
we created chances and it was a good game to watch, but similar to the colchester game we stopped after an hour. what formation was it tonight too? looked like 4-1-1-2-1-1 at times with brown, adeyemi, marsh-brown and kuqi all in a line in the centre and tayls and morais on the wings. doesnt help with all the players out but it's disappointing when you create the chances we did and give away two awful goals
beag_teeets
If you miss your chances when you are as dominant as we were then 9 times out of 10 you get punished. I thought Lee was already on his way down before he was pushed, seen them given though but I agree that it wasn't a corner. Fair play to the lads for getting it back to 1-1, I thought we were going to kick on from there but unfortunately Scunny had other ideas. Keanu probably should have been taken off at that point, you could see from his clumsy/silly challenge in the left hand side of the pitch that he was a timebomb, an exciting timebomb but he'd gone at that point. Their second was poor but almost expected, we've done them twice this season they were done one over us. When Keanu dived in the ref had no option but for good measure he showed quick hands, from the RRE it looked like he clocked him good and proper. Upto the point he became a liability he was an entertaining player, needs a sat nav as he goes up so many blind alleys but as with so many talented players he tries to do it all and forgets about the other 10 players in the same shirt. He could learn from Morais who put in such a controlled performance tonight, as he has done recently. By god does Kuqi need a goal from open play, if that one that hit the bar had gone in it would have been a different game. With our best central midfield, experienced defender, left back, recent talisman all out and replaced by kids and loanee kids we played some cracking football. At times it really was ole stuff but we didn't put the ball in the net and got undone from set pieces then lost our shape and heads. We've all seen it too many times. On to the next game now. oldhamains
The ref had a piss poor game even before that. Don't get me wrong deffo red card for brown but the guy who was shaking him around like a rag doll should of got a straight red. Also did he forget a had already given their player a yellow card earlier on. Is it normal for a manager to shake the refs hand? Alan Knill did. Gaz_Oafc
Really enjoyed our performance tonight up until they scored, thought we played some lovely stuff! Sick of opposition teams giving us a lesson in defending set-peices though! Stonewall pen! The ref was a joke, only decision he got right was the KMB red! Special mentions to morais and lee who i thought had great games!
Gaz_Oafc
i cant get my head around why we cant defend set-peices when our assistant manager is a vastly experienced centre half who played at a top level and has 50+ caps for his national team? Yeah but me and you could play for Norn Ire, Gaz! We are lacking experience at the back. Rookie keeper in his first FULL season, Kieran Lee in his SECOND FULL season, Young Mellor in his FIRST season, M'Voto is playing his longest injury free run in the side and Tarky again is in his first FULL Season - Kieran Lee is the experienced head and that says it all, as he is as quiet as a mouse. We need experience in there…oh for a Redmond, Garnett, Gregan etc….
opinions4u
I may be mistaken, but I thought the ball was well and truly out of the quadrant for the corner that brought their first goal.

beag_teeets
FYI SCUNTHORPE IS IN LINCOLNSHIRE, NOT YORKSHIRE. Don't worry, most of us know! One bit of fun for us is hearing the geographical errors that occur in the "I'm a....." song, Chesterfield, you and a few others spring to mind, it would be pretty easy to change it too but the choir fail to do so. slystallone
For 65 mins we were brilliant tonight. I go to games to be entertained - and i was tonight. We played some truly super stuff tonight, the first 45 mins were as good as anything we've done this season IMO. Lee, Morais, KMB were all having stormers and we pinged it about at such a high tempo; we looked a threat whenever we broke away. Had big Shef actually located his shooting boots and put the chance away; i felt it would have been flood-gate time. As it was; at 0 - 0 at HT its still all the play for, and we came out 2nd half and picked up where we left. Some great interchanges; Taylor came more into the game and again we looked a threat with every attack. KMB should have done so much better eith his 1 on 1, Morais was unlucky with the woodwork effort and the 'Keeper pulled off a good save from him too; BUT If you dont take your chances whilst you're on top, and you tire en mass like we seemed to do, then final 20mins you leave yourself open to what happened. We played some top stuff, and on the balance of play we deserved something from the game......but if you dont defend properly and you sit deeper & deeper; then you shouldnt expect to get off scott-free

The chances we created and football we played for huge swathes of that game were scintillating. Even a draw would have been a bit of a travesty after that. Spot on. I don't know how we didn't win that. Created more than enough chances to win the game, missed almost all of them, and fair play to Scunthorpe, they didn't waste the two chances they were gifted. The referee was an utter disgrace - the chaos at the end was bound to happen sooner or later, because he totally failed to impose any authority on the game (not that it excuses KMB's foul, which was definitely a straight red). The delay in sending Walker off was just embarrassing. Utterly inept, which probably means he'll be officiating in the Premiership next season. On the plus side, great goal from Morais. 2nd time this season one of his crosses has gone in like that. 'You make your own luck' etc.
