Sam779
Hi everyone, You might remember me posting prior to our two fixtures last season. Well since then I've played a part in gathering all Owls over the East Midlands together to start up our own supporters group. In just 2 or 3 short weeks we've managed to get just over 200 members signed up. We're a friendly and family orientated club. We're planning our first ever outing to the League Cup game at your place in August and will be displaying our new flag on the day (we think it's impressive). Anyway, do you have any suggestions on an ideal place for us to meet up for a few drinks pre-match? Last season I visited The Greyhound which was a nice enough place. Any other tips for the evening would be great. If you know of any Oldham fans in the East Midlands who might need a lift, we might be able to help. Good luck for the season. Sam www.eastmidlandsowls.co.uk Are you coming over snake or woodhead Sam? If so Waggon and Horses Stalybridge / Mottram is a nice family place to drink or eat (although a little pricey) Dog and Partridge 200 yeards further down on right is good for a beer (more of a pie and peas place) but both decent to break the journey on the way and only 25-30 mins from BP. Hope you enjoy the journey, but not so much the match

Hope you enjoy the journey, but not so much the match we were meant to be doing a Stalybridge - Glossop pub crawl the other week (but the weather and other things ruined it) and that would of been the half way point

Hope you enjoy the journey, but not so much the match Think we'll be heading across the A616 and A628 after doing some pick ups along the way. Depending which members want to go I guess there's a slight chance we'll go across the A50 by Stoke but it's unlikely. Only concern about drinking outside of Oldham is that we'll have a minibus which we'd rather park up early doors near the stadium for ease. maddog
The White Hart pub a bit further up the road (away from the ground) from the Grey Mare is a good Latics Pub and is away friendly - as long as you're not norty . No idea what it's like for a school night match though! Edited July 13, 2012 by maddog
Sam779
We're far from naughty, believe me. The Grey Mare might be handy for us with that free car park next to the large green/park. If I'm right, this is pretty much halfway between the pub and the ground.

jorvik_latic
Just on Broadway at the side of Clayton? I've heard it's not the safest though and can't get a minibus under the height restriction. Parking shouldn't really be an issue on a Monday- I'd advise drinking at one of the pubs on Rochdale Road and then drive down and park on the official car park. -

If I'm right, this is pretty much halfway between the pub and the ground. Directly opposite the grey mare there is a small car park (next to petrol station) where we park on match days which you'll get in no probs early doors. Have a few pints in there (heinekens spot on if you drink lager) then only 5 minute walk to bp.
