What class are you?

I got

Technical middle class

This is a small, distinctive and prosperous new class group. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

  • Mix socially with people similar to themselves
  • Work in research, science and technical fields
  • Enjoy emerging culture such as going to the gym and using social media

In fact, acknowledging Mr Shankly for the idea, I think we need definitions we can all identify with:

Technical middle class - "We're considerably richer than yow" :censored:

New affluent workers - hipster beatnik :censored:

Traditional working class - northern :censored:

Emergent service workers - foreign :censored:

Precariat, or precarious proletariat - scum

What I don't get is this: I've just spent the day working in the House of Commons Library. I'm off to the expensive gym in Canary Wharf, where I will no doubt use my phone for social networking while riding through a representation of the French countryside on an exercise bike, and occasionally looking up to see the drama unfolding on SSN. I'm then off out for respectable beers and a bite to eat in East Dulwich.

And I'm still only a hiptster beatnik :censored:. Where am I going wrong?
