jsslatic Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 In the light of the free transfer thread following Charlie Mac's ill-timed injury and today's extension of the emergency loan system (BBC), I wonder whether this board is in favour or against the current transfer system. Quote
opinions4u Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Nobody has made a compelling case for change. Quote
OAFC_Ryan Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 One thing that really annoys me is the big guns buying young talent from the lower leagues and letting them rot in their reserves or 'development squads' Quote
pukka Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Against the current system: Go back to the pre 2003 system. Buy whenever up to mid march. Quote
Latics_Fanatic Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I think it does us a favour that our top players can't just get snapped up any time in the season. Like last season, we knew we were guaranteed to keep Jose at least until summer after the window shut in Jan. I think it adds some stability to football. I've never really known football without it either to be honest, when did it come in for our league 2003ish? Quote

Buckshawlatic Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Sorry but this is not true. as the sales of Stephens and Furman demonstrate. Stephens and Furman were both deals the club wanted hence the loan moves, the window protects against losing players we don't want to see go... Porter, Taylor, and more recently Baxter. No doubt Tarkowski would have been courted by now too Quote
