pinevillawill Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 You'd have thought the incentive of playing at Anfield would give our 'tired' players a much needed lift. Never understood tiredness in professional football. Pathetic. Quote

Never understood tiredness in professional football. Pathetic. Exactly, training is never the most intense. Prepare well, eat well, live the right lifestyle and there is absolutely no excuse. If you're knackered have an ice bath straight after games and take advantage of the unlimited massages they can get on their legs. Have sauna, swim and steam room sessions. Plenty of ways to not be knackered from 90minutes football 3 times a week Quote
lancy lad Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 They should be running their bollocks off to get a match at Anfield, not telling LJ they are tired. Make the lazy bastards do an 8-6 in a factory job and put the kids in. Quote

They have 3 days off then complain of being tired, they have all the modern physiotherapy available to keep them fresh, it will come as a shock to some of them when they descend to non league and also have to work for a living. Hardly comparable, I know, but I used to train twice a week followed by games on both Saturday and Sunday. Quote

SavageTheBeast Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Some of these didn't play a full game Tuesday. Just bone idleness Quote
rvlatic Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 This modern excuse of "feeling tired" has crept into the game recently and it totally pisses me off! Ffs it only appears when things are going wrong... remember before we had the multitude of substitutes available each game - teams like liverpool won titles, cups and europe using 1 sub per game! Playing 50 odd games a season - they were never moaning about being fkin tired! Quote

I seem to remember the Liverpool team played a whole season winning practically everything in Bill Shankly's days using the same few players, can you imagine Tommy Smith with his dodgy knees saying to Bill "I've played 3 times this week boss give me a rest". deyres42 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 4 league games before Liverpool, now 3, cup match shouldn't be in the mindset. Quote

slystallone Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I remember when Bob Nettleship and Stan Whippetshire played 83 games in a week; and on a diet of Beef Dripping Buttys and Bovril, and in hobnail boots. These modern footballers eh? Don't know they were born. I blame the army boot camp personally... Quote

rvlatic Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 i don't think boot camp has anything to do with it - playing xbox games, twittering and the like til the early hours is more likely the cause of the 'mental tiredness'! Quote
Hands on Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 No wonder he is pissed off. Tired - professional sportsmen. What else have they got to do. Mental tiredness - they have a brain? Quote

So they are like 80% of their contemporaries then. The same ones who manage to hold their jobs down on a 9-5 5 day a week basis. Quote

The same ones who manage to hold their jobs down on a 9-5 5 day a week basis. yes i'm sure they are but i know that if i stay up late then it will affect my performance at work the next day and i don't have to run around a pitch! years ago i used to stay up and watch the superbowl live and if i couldnt manage to get the day after off - i was bobbins the next day! if we are looking for a reason for 'mental tiredness' then that seems to me the logical one.
