What are SCs tick boxes as regards a manager?

Corney's policy is to get a plausible ex-player or thinking-about-retiring player. This person is after one of only 92 such positions in the country, so why not get him to pay for the privilege of having it? In that way, the person is instantly incentivised to get results. They can move on to bigger and better things (paid work) at their earliest convenience, but this will happen only if they are successful at Oldham (successful in the sense of not being there when we are relegated). Amazingly, this policy is NOT the craziest thing in football.

So its Paul Scholes then?

Ah. I should've added that this player will be lower half of the championship or below. Scholes wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, no matter how much Barry dreams of rubbing shoulders with and bossing the stars.

So we are left with Dean Holden and Frank Sinclair?

Scholes offers nothing in terms of genuine managerial qualities.

But he will bring some focus on the club, a chance for a greater level of commericial income as a result of that interest - something that with a new stand on the horizon would be very beneficial.

Won't happen sadly.

Can anybody be really serious about Scholes ?....his demeanour as a pundit tells you right away he does not

have the personality to lead.

Holden now favourite at 1/3 and Paul Scholes shifted out to 8/1 (bet Victor)

Maybe someone's made a killing on that 8/1 for Holden earlier.

Mind you after the Preston match he might be 100/1.
