NewBlue Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Thread for news on the activities and transfers of other clubs in League 1 during the close season. Paul Cook, Chesterfield manager, to Portsmouth. Not bad for us, that.
the_mighty_bosh Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Shows the pull that Pompey still have, although the way they conducted themselves to get him was fairly unprofessional in my book.
JoeP Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Thread for news on the activities and transfers of other clubs in League 1 during the close season. Paul Cook, Chesterfield manager, to Portsmouth. Not bad for us, that. For what reason?
yarddog73 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 For what reason? Darren Kelly applied for Chesterfield job ?
NewBlue Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 For what reason? He's done an excellent job and they're in our league. It'll weaken them which can only help us.
NewBlue Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Scunthorpe sign Dawson from Dale and bid for Clucas from Chesterfield. They're throwing money about and must be contenders next season with a decent start to the campaign
PlayItLivo Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Scunthorpe sign Dawson from Dale and bid for Clucas from Chesterfield. They're throwing money about and must be contenders next season with a decent start to the campaign Can't see Clucas joining them unless they're paying him the crown jewels. He'll no doubt have admirers from better clubs than Scunny and even if he doesn't, staying at Chesterfield would be a more enticing proposition.
Gaz_Oafc Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 How are Scunthorpe managing to do it with FFP? Apparently their chairman has said they'll have one of the best budgets in the league next season.
Lee Sinnott Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Scunthorpe sign Dawson from Dale and bid for Clucas from Chesterfield. They're throwing money about and must be contenders next season with a decent start to the campaign Didn't they pay quite a bit for Paddy Madden the other year..?
SavageTheBeast Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Didn't they pay quite a bit for Paddy Madden the other year..? Yeah went from championship to league 2. They also signed billy Kee for a big fee as well. I don't believe all this FFP always ways around it
SavageTheBeast Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Didn't they pay quite a bit for Paddy Madden the other year..? Both undisclosed Madden believed to be around 300k and kee around 250k
Dave_Og Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php "Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions" And righly so in my view; I don't see why a wealthy owner should be stopped from spending money although I would advoicvatre some sort of bond to protect against a club being left with unsustainable contracts if said owner walks away. Have Scunthorpe got one?

HarryBosch Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Nigel Clough sacked. Bad news that for us. He was never going to get them up. The next bloke might.
Gaz_Oafc Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Nigel Clough sacked. Bad news that for us. He was never going to get them up. The next bloke might. Ferguson / Poyet / Adkins the early favourites. Scholes at 16/1
Latics_Fanatic Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Ferguson / Poyet / Adkins the early favourites. Scholes at 16/1 Adkins would be my bet.
rudemedic Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Adkins would be my bet. Somewhere a squeaky voiced short-arse is polishing up another 100 day plan.
HarryBosch Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Somewhere a squeaky voiced short-arse is polishing up another 100 day plan. Clough wasn't supposed to get sacked until about day 90....
Gaz_Oafc Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 All the early money on Phil Parkinson. Was a short as 1/10 but drifting now to 1/3. Both Sheffield united & Bradford city fans up in arms at the prospect.
Paddock Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I'll wager a certain someone is cutting and pasting a dossier together
yarddog73 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I'll wager a certain someone is cutting and pasting a dossier together Nah he is going for the Madrid job.
