Magister
On thing I noticed on Tuesday night was despite how well the pitch took the copious rain, there was inevitably significant wear and tear caused to the pitch. We are well into November, the grass will hardly be growing......I think we will now start to see significant bobble on the ball I hope this does not mean an end to fast accurate free flowing passing which has thus far typified our home performances? Seriously I think we are increasing going to have a poor playing surface now
Diego_Sideburns
I thought how good the pitch looked, especially compared with Bradford City's last night.

SavageTheBeast
i thought it looks ok. when I went to the trust meeting they mentioned that they have not put down a new pitch for ten years. This is one of the problems of having the roughyeds.
mickjagger
Maybe one of the reasons we struggle after Christmas, the players cant adjust. What would they have been like playing on the pitches 30 years ago the mind boggles
Stevie_J
I thought how good the pitch looked, especially compared with Bradford City's last night. I was going to post that Blackpool beach would make a better playing surface than the pitch at Valley Parade but, watching the highlights, their pitch looks good. It was the worst pitch I've seen in decades last season.

nzlatic
I see that Dave Worrall on the Southend site has commented on the challenging nature of the pitch on Tuesday I'm not surprised. Was sodden against Mansfield then frosted over a few days later. Not ideal!

Diego_Sideburns
It'll be worse after the youth team have played on it tonight in the cup-tie v Morecambe 7:00pm kick-off. P.S. The rarely-wrong Chron says the kick-off time is 7:45pm. Edited November 27, 2015 by Diego_Sideburns

Magister
The draining qualities of the pitch are outstanding and amongst the best in the country. However this heavy rain is forecast to last for the next 7 hours....that is a lot of rain! The pitch should cope but If I was travelling any distance I would check first?
