Southend home game tactics?

Recommended Posts

Surely the two holding midfielders and one up front has to be abandoned against Southend on Tuesday, if not can anyone see the result being different than today?

Handing the initiative to the opposition at home is IMO the common denominator of poor home results.

I could understand if it was working and the two CDM's were breaking up play constantly and setting off attacks...

Kelly can do that job on his own. 2 aren't needed. Dieng (who as I see as a CB defo not a CM) completely bypassed the game against both Mansfield and today. Just overkill and not needed.

Fulton was much better when he came on but advanced a lot more too.

I'm not even sure what I would try to be honest...Poleon struggles up front on his own but I think Higdon is pretty useless.

We all know what's going to happen....4-5-1 with 2 holding midfielders...Dunn will change it eventually once we are a goal behind and then he will take positives from the fact we "Nearly" got an equaliser! Another defeat on the cards unless he does something very different in the coming days!

I see Fulton as another holding midfielder, if he plays against Southend alongside Kelly the result will be just the same as today.

We talk about the same :censored: every week. Get used to it we have a coaching team as clueless tactically as Kelly, get rid of all three for me its totally negative, boring, mind numbing football, even with two holding midfielders Barnsley should of had 4 or 5, we are so easy to play against, nobody is showing for the ball movement off the ball is near on non existent, we have no runners from midfield, thats left to Dummingan our rightback, our dead balls are shocking you could go on and on.

Instead of worrying about where to eat at Chapel Rd worry about the :censored:e your teams serving up Dunn and get out on the training pitch, watch a game on Clayton tomorrow and you will see players with more desire than this bunch are showing.

We don't have the players at the moment to play the type of expansive, open football that the supporters want.

I'd go:

Coleman/Cornell

Dummigan

Wilson

Wilson

Mills

Philliskirk

Kelly

Fulton

Yeates

Higdon

Poleon

Get that front two back together with Rasulo to come on for the last quarter to run at their tired defence.

My team would be

(3-5-2)

Cornell

J.Wilson

B.Wilson

Dieng

Dummingan

Philliskirk

Kelly

Jones

Yeats

Poleon

Fuller or Higdon or Cassidy

BP was asking what the tactics should be.

I honestly don't think the starting 11 matters massively as, it seems to me, we've gone into every game going back to Gillingham (I think?) with exactly the same strategy - to protect the 0-0 until the last 20 minutes or until we go 1 down....

And maybe Gillingham was just a fluke...
