FA youth cup Friday night 7pm

Recommended Posts

Hope it's good but it is so rare to see a Latics youth really make a strong career these days that the merit of watching youth games, which presumably are best enjoyed with an eye to the future, is open to question

Usually entertaining with 100% effort, well worth watching.

Very impressive all played well, shouldn't be long before keeper Chris Renshaw makes his first team debut.

Jake Hargreaves was a real livewire in midfield, looking forward to seeing more of him and Lee Knight was very strong on the right wing.

The corner kicks were excellent and we looked like scoring from everyone.

The formation was 4-4-2 and it worked to perfection.

What formation was that again BP?

We never seem to get a kind draw in the FA youth cup.

There are teams like Metropolitan Police, Ilkeston Worthing, and Accrington Stanely still in the draw, and we get a Prem team!

Morecambe weren't the youth team of a Premiership giant..

And the southern kids may be knackered by too many stops for chicken nuggets on the long drive up

Are any of them 6' 3"? We seem to specialise in developing youth players who look like they need a good meal.

Renshaw the goalkeeper, King and Stott the centre backs all look about 6'2"..the centre forward Kay about 6' 4". The right winger Knight looks 6ft. Edited by BP1960

But virtually none of the Prem teams play that way!

4-2-3-1 is the way to go with the dearth of wingers

The youth played 2 wingers, great to see players running at defenders.

Morecambe had a good winger too, Luke Jordan, like greased lightening and put in some great crosses.

I'll be keeping an eye on his progress.

I think it was the midfielder Rory Middleton who took the corner kicks, not seen many as dangerous in years.

One possible plus point, I am sure I had read that Bournemouth had a poor Youth setup as they had put all their money in the first team.

EDIT: Here it is. Doesn't put us favourites, of course.

They have won their last 5 games though.
