LaticsPete
Very sad to hear of the death of Larry, one of the founders of The Oldham Tinkers. Both in their work in keeping the musical and social heritage f the area alive, and in their own material, the Tinkers were something Oldham could be proud of. Several of their own songs mentioned Latics and they had an affection for and knowledge of local football and rugby, present and historic. Good tribute in the Chron : http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/8/news-headlines/98392/tributes-flood-in-for-tinker-larry
Bristolatic
Love The Tinkers' stuff. John Willie's 'orse scoring the winning goal, Canute and Ski-ing Owdham Style. Brilliant. RIP Larry.
oafcprozac
Taught me English at St. Augustine's in the late 1980s, a true gent. Tbh thought he had died years ago, looked older than he was - must have been in his mid-40s then!
oafc21
Like Prozac said true gent, I will never forget in st Augustine's first year I dislocated my finger playing rugby and Larry tried to snap it back into place for me!!! Ouch!! Then told me I'd better go to the hospital, we had a good laugh about it after wards, RIP Larry
