Running a Marathon.

Recommended Posts

I am doing my first ever Marathon in October (Birmingham International Marathon), and just wondering if anyone else on here had done one before and, if so, did they have any tips in terms of training and recovery, diet etc?

I am doing it, along with the Oldham 10k, Manchester half marathon and Yorkshire Tough Mudder, to raise money for Alzheimers Society so, if anyone wants to donate, I'd be eternally grateful...

As a side note to this, what an absolute honour it was to be in Manchester yesterday and to take part in the half marathon. The support out on the roads was unbelievable and you'd have to have been made of stone to not be choked up at some point...

No idea about running, but do a lot of cycling. Went and did some cycling in the alps a few years ago, which was quite tough, and needed to recover pretty quick each day ready for the next. SIS recovery drink is bloody brilliant for that.

Good luck. I can't imagine just how hard running for that long is.
