Diego_Sideburns
NOTE: This information may be out of date in an ever-changing world. Forest Green Rovers, The New Lawn, Another Way, Nailsworth, GL6 0FG The ground is situated on top of a hill, exposed to the elements. To find it by sat nav, use postcode GL6 0ET. Described by FIFA as the greenest football club in the world, it is the only club in the world to have EMAS accreditation – the gold standard of environmental management – and the first and only vegan football club in the world. The Club plans to build ‘Eco Park’ stadium made entirely of wood. Away fans are located on the uncovered West Terrace (standing only), which can hold up to 975 people, with entry through turnstiles 9 and 10. The entrance to the away terrace is at the back of the stadium from the main entrance and the access paths are quite narrow. Entrance to the ground is via electronic turnstiles, so it is necessary to scan the ticket to gain admittance. Disabled persons’ facilities: Parking is available in the club car park for visiting fans who are blue badge holders, but a space must be pre-booked. Very limited wheelchair accessible seating is available in the East Stand. How to get there: By Car: Nailsworth is south of Stroud in Gloucestershire. Exit the M5 at junction 13 and head for Stroud on the A419. At Stroud turn onto the A46 towards Nailsworth. This will bring you into the centre of the town and when you reach the Information Centre, take the first right at the mini-roundabout into Spring Hill, which goes up a steep hill sign-posted Forest Green. The New Lawn stadium is at the top of this hill. Turn left at the roundabout at the 'summit' into the stadium entrance. Car Parking: There is a small section of parking at the ground for early arrivals, at a cost of £5. A short distance away down Nympsfield Road is Nailsworth Primary School, which offers parking at £5 per car. Otherwise, there is plenty of on-street parking in the area, and the Club requests consideration for its neighbours and adherence to local parking enforcement. A Park and Ride service with over 200 spaces at a cost of £5 per car runs from local company Renishaw, Stroud Road, Nailsworth, GL5 5EY, from three hours before kick-off, with coaches travelling from the car park to and from the ground. Parking in the centre of Nailsworth is free and it is a fifteen-minute walk up a steep hill to the ground. By Train: The closest train station is Stroud. Walk 3mins from the station to the bus stop outside Merrywalks Shopping Centre and catch the 63 bus to Forest Green which takes approximately 30mins. Where to drink: There is a bar at the ground called the Green Man, which is built into the back of the Main Stand. This bar serves real ale from the Stroud Brewery, hot food is available and it has a number of televisions showing sports. Howerver, although normally only home fans are admitted, the Club has set up a small marquee bar for visiting fans which is located near to the away turnstiles. Even the beer and cider sold by the Club is vegan. The George pub on New Market Road is around a 15 minute walk to the ground. It is an extremely atmospheric pub and worth seeking out despite the walk back up the hill. To find this pub from the ground, walk back down the main road towards the town centre. Half-way down look out for Burma Road on the right and follow it along into Seven Acres Road. Carry on until you see a footpath on your left heading sharply down the hill. It is a shortcut that leads to the back of The George. There are some other pubs and food outlets are at the bottom of the hill in Nailsworth, which is about a 15 minute walk, such as the Britannia on New Market Road. Alternatively, a five minute drive (or two and a half miles) away from the ground in Nympsfield Village is the Rose & Crown which serves real ale and food. If you have a bit of time on your hands then there is the Village Inn on the A46 on the North side of the town. This pub is well known for its ale being the home of the Keep Brewing Brewery and also shows Sky and BT Sports. Where to eat: If you are looking for a meat pie, beef burger or hot dog to buy inside the ground, then you will be disappointed, as the Club has decided not to sell any meat products and instead only sells vegan ones. On offer are freshly-made fajitas, veggie burgers, the Q-Pie (a vegan pie made using leek and Quorn ingredients), chips, chips and curry sauce and chip butties. sjk2008
Just booked the trains for 3 of us for this. £30.40 each (advance singles, split at Wolverhampton). Would advise anyone who travels with the same people to get a Two Together Railcard, as you will make the money back on the FGR trip alone. Bargain. GlossopLatic
Its intriguing if nothingelse. Particularly how some of our fanbase would react to going to a place like this, particularly the more gammonish ones. God knows what the "eco park" will be like.
