About the same. Although given the context probably more so yes.  Obviously a more accomplished player.

Nonsense.  That'd be the Clarke who was club player if the year at every club he played for.  Obviously Wheater has played at a higher level but a more obvious leader?  No.  Blindingly obviously the only sensible option in this squad though.

Nonsense? What’s nonsense?

  • 2 weeks later...

Yesterday was a day when all Bolton fans were proud of their kids with their teams average age at 19, playing for their shirt and not bothered about their off the field issues..

makes you wonder, this current squad we have how many would actually play for the shirt with pride..How many players in the last few years would run through a brick wall or play through the pain barrier and try to win at all costs..Probably only Clarke in the last few years and absolutely nobody in this current team..

Aye and 5 of their team that played last  week refused to play this week due to ongoing troubles at the club.

If you want to compare at least try and find a similar situation not compare apples with pears.

The whole Bolton situation is a farce-in the past clubs used to be fined for fielding weakened teams. What happens if they survive and then sign better players? Their first two games have been weakened sides so the opposition have got easy points. Disgrace.

Nonsense.  The weakened team they played was the best available, the ones who made themselves unavailable very sensibly concluded that the risk of getting injured and ruining their chances of getting a job with an employer who might actually pay them were not worth it.

I actually think that in that season under Robinson, Dunn and ultimately Sheridan (all before AL got involved), the team by and large played for the shirt and a fairly untalented team stayed up comfortably in the end, led in no small way by Clarke & Ripley. Main & Holloway came in on loan and defended from the front and the whole team gelled sufficiently to pick up sufficient points to stay up despite only scoring 31 goals in the season.

Much rather that, dull though it undoubtedly was on many occasions, than the shite we have had to endure under this owner whose recruitment hasn't focused on the attitudes of and resilience of players

Hamer, Fane, Clarke, Edmundson, COG,  Missile just recently I'd put in that category

If it's nonsense then why, using your explanation did the others choose to play?  Are they not sensible?

It may have been the best available BUT it is still a weakened team and therefore other clubs can be seen to be benefitting.

Has no comparison with our current situation.

The rules about weakened teams apply if the clubs choose to select them; clearly not the case.  As for why some chose to play and some didn't you'd have to ask them.

Blood and sand are you a Bolton fan? I will just nip over to Bolton and ask the players are you sensible? Why didn't you play on Saturday?

They EFL have waived just about every rule to keep them going.

Posted this the other week. As soon as somebody say's "clearly" they are either making stuff up or have no idea what they are talking about.

You do realise this sets precedent any future club problems in the EFL?

We have enough of our own problems to worry about, I won't be researching what's going on at Bolton in any depth.

They can't really fine them for playing weakened team though as they have no money.
