Stevie_J 3,718 Posted January 21 Share Posted January 21 Slightly overdue, but it's time for the cup to get underway. Format as follows: 17 groups (16 groups of 4 predictors and 1 group of 3). Each predictor faces another from their group for a particular fixture. Group winners go through to a knockout round of 32, as well as the runners up from each of the groups of 4 with the exception of the one second place finisher with the worst record. Each predictor will play each of the other predictors in their group once with three points awarded for a win and one point for a draw. Group table position will be dictated by Pts, then prediction points difference (think goal difference), prediction points scored, then games won, then head to head record. 32 predictors will go through to the second round, where predictors go head-to-head in a knockout format, which goes through to a final between two predictors, just as in a typical cup competition. In the knockout stage, in the event of a draw, there will be a replay fixture. If scores are level in the replay, the predictor with the most points in the previous round wins (going back round-by-round as far as strongest group record, if necessary) progresses - usually we'd use closest attendance but that's out. In the final there will be no replay. Most points in the previous round(s) wins.
