Teams are coming  here for a win and full of confidence that we have a crap defence and lightweight. Long gone are the days of being a fortress at home. Now it's more like a sand castle.

Having said that even with our injuries I'm hoping as always for a win but when I see what they did against the likes of Scunthorpe  I wouldn't bank on it.

Some good news today is that I've been told by the club that I've won a free season ticket for next season.

So it was you who laid into Coco in the Main Stand last season. That'll teach you.

No idea what Whelan did in his cameos against Bolton and Barrow to impress.

He doesn't win or keep the ball enough for me.

Strange to criticise Kewell for tinkering and rotating, when this would be a classic change for change's sake.

I think he looked good in possession last two games.

Whelan looks good to me recently. Get him in. Better than Diarra running around doing the square root of fuck all

Whelan was more constructive and competitive than McAlmont, who has been very disappointing considering his high rating by Leeds fans before he came here.

Time to rest him.

I don’t expect any of those three to be fit for Saturday. Add Dearnley, Barnes, Badan & Garrity plus Jameson’s suspension to that list and we are down to the bare bones...

Lawlor

Fage, Clarke, Piergianni, Adams

Diarra, Ntambwe

Bahamboula, McCalmont, Keillor-Dunn

Grant

Bilboe, Jombati, Tasdemir, Vaughan, Blackwood, Whelan, Da Silva

Good job it’s only Southend...👀

According to the official site preview, Jombati's a doubt too.  Not that it should affect our starting XI but have we got another youngster who could be on the bench?

It certainly could be a threadbare lineup tomorrow.

Classic Latics fan this. Mind made up, blind to any positives.

He's looked bright to anybody watching objectively.

And we will still win 8-0

Whelan clearly does have ability, this has only been evident in brief spells.

On the occasions where he was played as a 'holding midfielder player' or thrown on into a game when we were utterly terrible, he struggled, to the point where his confidence appeared to be shot.

If Marcel stays (unlikely) or proper central midfielders are added, he might stand a chance.

Hope he does have the opportunity.

I think that's unfair.  I'm more than happy to admit how much better Keillor-Dunn is playing compared to what I thought earlier in the season, for example.

I was happy to see Jameson and Diarra get second chances too.

I really still didn't see much difference with Whelan from earlier in the season though.  Maybe we'll see today.

Interesting that Diarra is preferred to Jombati as a centre back and that Fage is preferred to Jombati as a right back...

Good news that Hilssner is fit enough to start and that McAleny and Badan are fit enough to be on the bench...

Strange that Blackwood does not make the match day squad...

And then there’s Tasdemir... last chance saloon - it must be...

?

Diarra starting at CB over Jombati makes sense.

Fage will be on the left.

I might have tried Jombati at RW over Tasdemir, though.

I wouldn't have Jambutty or Teasmaid anywhere near the club, they're both crap
