It's way beyond the thin end.  We were full and willing participants when the wedge was inserted into the crack (insert Carry Onesque joke of choice here)

The difference is the removal of any meritocracy for the 15 clubs leading this - it’s a closed members club. The Premier League has relegation/promotion - this would allow five additional members to the club on an annual basis while protecting the 75%.
If this goes ahead then they soon will not be satisfied and want more.

It's all folding like a deck of cards, hopefully Stretford Fc will stick to their guns and then get fucked off by the FA.

If only we (people and the collective media) could do the same when it comes to things like, oh I don't know - maybe the health secretary bunging his mates and his sister millions of our pounds?

Glazer knows Manchester United have millions of fans world wide who want to bask in their glory and will pay his club a TV subscription to watch them play live.

Manchester United TV might be £8 a month now bit just you see it shoot up to £25 a month once they are in a European Super League.

It's TV money Glazer and Co are after, they couldn't care less if matches are played in empty stadiums.

Let them clear off, English football will be all be better without the greedy mob.

While The Glazers will clearly want more TV money they also need Old Trafford full every week. Match day revenue for Man United is £110million a year prior to the pandemic no business can just throw that kind of money away.

Full stadiums are also far more attractive to sponsors and tv companies Yes they want to increase TV an international revenue. But if fans turn their back on it in this country then it will fail.

There's enough glory seekers to fill Old Trafford every home match, with their  kids strutting about in the latest rip off priced European Super League kit, They are like sheep and Glazer knows it.

Why do think Castle Greyskull wont be packed every week ?

The Glaziers came and there was a huff and a puff with apparently thousands stating they wouldn't go again, yet the ground was full

Very hardy and determined are football supporters

You only have to look at our place to see that

We have an Owner who has taken our Club to the lowest league position in decades and is slowly strangling us to death

Supporters still buy season tickets though and go to games

Work that one out

Do you really believe the courts will allow such restrictions on players practising their trade?

They can't ply their trade in international football, they aren't contracted to a national team they are selected.

If they don't get the invite they don't play.

Mind you it wouldn't surprise me if England football went the way of cricket with several contacted players.

In my industry we use "Legacy" to mean the things we're going to End of Life, but which we don't want to admit that about yet.....

Yep. It's a propaganda term for "obsolete".

To these money grubbers pushing for a Super League a Grandad taking his grandson to a game on Saturday afternoon is a "legacy fan".

A Twitch Streamer in the United States with high social media engagement who can promote and influence on their platform is "the fan of the future" and the target audience for this whole project.

Football fans might be hardy souls but they won't have the piss taken out of them just take a look at our season ticket sales.

The reality for this whole thing is that they have more to lose than gain it will be dead in the water this and quickly forgotten about with in a month just like that project big picture they came out with a few months ago.

They are just leveraging this to twist UEFAs arm to fet a reformed champions league.

If we just float the idea for a minute, do people think the super league would attract big/huge audience and or subscriptions?

My heart says people would quickly get bored, but that’s because we have a very rich tradition in this country of fair competition etc.

However my head says the NFL continues to grow in popularity in this country and it’s a very similar model, we don’t moan about that because it’s not ingrained in our blood. There are young or new football countries that don’t have football ingrained in them and would probably lap it up. Globally I think it would be huge.

If/when it gets knocked back I think it’s only inevitable that this where it eventually go, and to be honest if it means they are no longer part of we all love and they do their billionaire playground thing, then fine- do one.

Leave the real stuff for the rest of us.

Big six my arse. Spurs have won nothing for a long time, and haven't won as may league titles as Huddersfield. City and Chelsea ow all of their success to foreign billionaires, otherwise they'd still be struggling with crowds of around 30-34k. Only the other three can count themselves as big clubs (fan base, global appeal, trophies won). Newcastle are bigger. City and Chelsea were the same as Everton or Villa. Celtic and Rangers are big clubs, as are the likes of Ajax and Benfica.

This is all sick. Fucking legacy fans!!! Bastards. However, i agree - this is a game of oneupmanship. They'll probably settle for a bigger slice of a reformed CL.

Think it would be dangerous to assume it won't happen given plenty of the pieces already seem to be in place. There's no doubt that things have to change, the Premier League is pretty dull week to week, Champions League is a tired format and the modern/new fan is only really interested in seeing the best vs the best.

The modern/new fan has a short attention span, one week football the next week computer games/porn.

Thats just not true. Even very young fans of both Man U and Liverpool love it when their rivals get a bloody nose at the hands of a ‘minnow’

Besides which.... this super league is not the best v the best. It’s the old big boys ensuring their financial futures.  Make no mistake... Barca, Juventus and even Man U financials are very poor these days.  The pandemic will shine a light on that in the coming months.

They might love it but they are not paying to watch it which is the name of this particular game.

Your FIFA generation fan probably knows more about and is more interested in Atletico than they do about a Fulham or a Southampton, that's just the way it is going.

Surely they won't be allowed to play in the domestic league. Let them go and we can have a more competitive and exciting top division.

Still can’t believe Big Mo managed to engineer this just to distract attention from our poor season. Shocking what power these agents wield.

Fucking shambles, footballs gone.

Nope. Just the "big" 6.

Remove them from all domestic competition. Let them implode.

Football has a massive base/deep roots based on legacy. This is why it's so popular, on a global basis. Amercican sports have limited appeal. They have superficial roots. Big in America. Limited elsewhere. Football is the opposite. It's built on legacy. What's proposed is an American model. It is based on concentrating wealth at the top and the rest can fuck off. Legacy fans - American disrespect/insult. They should be banned from football.

I still think it's a power grab. But, despite everything, most people who watch United are actually from Greater Manchester. Most Liverpool fans are from Merseyside. Their clubs are basically pissing them off, as they have for a long time. They are the ones who need to wake up. These clubs are interested in China, India etc. Owned by Americans, they don't give a shit about local fans.

I've said it many times. The contemporary model for football is immoral. It's all about business. It should be all about football, players, the community of fans. It is a game that belongs to the people, not the businessman. Too many people accept this. Where has it got us? Yes, we can debate spreadsheets and what's in companies house. But that's all bollocks.

These proposals will kill football. However, i still think it's a power grab. They should be told to fuck off. Ban them from everything. Do it now. West Ham or Leicester can win the PL. Let them be incestuous. Reminds me of Packer. That went well...

It won't kill football because of your previous point. It's much bigger than these twelve teams, the money won't be - but the game is.

G Nev is saying what a group of football fans said in 2005, crazy thing is he said the opposite in 2005. At least he admits he was complicit, so there's that. Bit late though...
