Opposition players I'd like (if we had a bit of money)

Recommended Posts

As many know I like to look at opposition players as well as our own, and fantasised if only the club had a bit of money they could be brought here.

Bearing in mind I've only seen them once, so far this season I've noted;

Luke Armstrong, Big bustling centre forward at Harrogate

Ross Sykes, Dominant 6ft 5" centre back, Accrington Stanley

Lewis Bate, Clever 18yo midfielder, Leeds United (taken on loan)

No chance now of course, but I'll still keep an eye on more prospects this season in case I win the Euro millions.💸

I would add George Thomson from Harrogate to your list . Ran the midfield at BP here again . Does all the dirty niggly things without being caught as well as creating and scoring . I would also like to see last years Mcaleny , but doubt anyone will again . Agree about Armstrong , we should have been in for him .

Hows McAleney doing at Salford? Granted I could look but I’m lazy

Hes the player we actually need right now. Although for some reason some want a big clogger who will run about making lots of noise and score 8 goals a season rather than one who will quietly go about scoring 20.

We have the clogger in Hope don’t we? None in 11 gives some optimism he may make 5-8 across the season

it was a genuine question btw I’ve no idea how Connor is doing at Salford - and I was gutted he left

There were people on here who criticised his work rate. Jokers.

When you consider the team he was in it was quite a remarkable achievement.

We didn't have a target man last season infact we appeared to play a false 9 supported by wide forwards and we finished the 2nd highest scorers, it was the one thing we got right last season.

Don't get me wrong a target man who gets in people's faces can be great asset so too is a forward who can press from the front. I just feel we need to remind ourselves that their is more than one way to skin a cat.

Gets stuck chasing hoof balls on the wing then hammered for not bagging. He's not great but got to feel a bit sorry for him

Correct - he looked ok for Carlisle in Frankie Bunn's last game!!!

With what we have available we should be trying 433 with Hope,Dearnley and BamBam as the 3 up front.

He won’t. He doesn’t even get chances to score.

no I don’t think he will either: he’s not a striker he’s an atracking mid who has only hit double figs once. Curle has put a lot on him playing him up front, giving him no. 9 when it’s not really his role. I can’t see him getting more than 5 at best this year on current performance

Attacking mid??…He doesn’t appear to be an attacking anything!
