BPAS PODCAST SEASON 2: 8th Nov '21 Episode 57: Tractor Bouyed

Recommended Posts

An unexpectedly positive result against a much better L1 side in the first round of the cup, means a reply at BP for Keith Curle's men. We talk about that, the protests and the appointment of former OASF director Paul Hughes at the club, with his son, Graham.

There's a long running debate in the City about making a rule which prevents regulators (at least at a senior level) from joining an authorised firm to prevent the accusation/perception that they have been favouring firms in advance of a move.

The most likely outcome, in my perception, would be the establishment of a defined period of time when such a move was barred contractually.

I'd suggest the same for trust directors.  I'm not going to join in with the witchhunts that go on without facts but there is no doubt that perception matters.

Interesting episode. It almost sounded like fan ownership is now the stated aim of OASF (unless Matt was just speaking for himself) .

I mean the website literally has a tally of the funds raised and says “one step closer to fam ownership” so I would assume and hope it’s the strategy of the OASF as a whole.

It is part of the current strategy issued in April 2021. 21 steps for us to "be ready" the best we can for fan ownership/majority investment of club, stadium of both. Falls under the umbrella of "latics"

L = Longevity, our home. Relationship with the landlord.

A = Academy how we can work with them. "grow our own talent"

T = Town, inclusive for all, whether latics fans or not.The community, local businesses, councillors, MP's

I  = Investment, whether you can contribute £1, or time, or a business looking to support us somehow.

C = Club, includes OACT and the work they do

S = Supporters, Oldham together......again to include everyone along the journey. Even if you are unable or unsure you want to contribute cash, you can still be involved, join as a member for free, become a blue and white volunteer.......there is stuff that needs to be done complete the outstanding steps.

The strategy is not set in stone, it should be reviewed and be adaptive.

The website is not complete, we felt it necessary to launch it early than planned because of the need to start the 1895 Contingency fund. OASF admin costs include a monthly fee to keep this maintained, OASF staff trained/supported and we are going to develop the pages as we go along.

OASF does have admin costs. We have 34 fans who currently use it and its raised over £104.29 so far.

So if you can, please remember to use #easyfundraising when you do your Christmas shopping, book your away travel watching latics, switching insurances, booking your summer holiday. There are over 6,000 shops and sites will donate to OASF at no extra cost to you - so you can raise donations that help make a difference!

Please sign up and help us raise more at:

Thanks, and apologies for the plug.

NOTE: Anything that is pre-fixed "1895" means money raised is ring fenced for the CF only.
