Another good listen.

I don't necessarily buy into the commonly held assumption that you will finish top seven or thereabouts next season (although you are likely to be one of the contenders). There are two broad reasons for that :

  • the likely disappearance of both Rectum and Notts County will make it more competitive than ever, I feel, and I don't think there will necessarily be two teams as obviously out of their depth as Maidstone and Scunny were
  • player turnover is very hard to predict from year to year at NL level. I didn't expect Barnet and Eastleigh to be as good as they have  been this year, for example

You have certainly finished with good momentum, but I think I'm right in saying that others (like Halifax) have as well. Will you be able to continue ? Hopefully, but not certain.

On the flip side, I am not all convinced that Chesterfield will enjoy being a bookie's favourite, doubt that Woking will be as strong a force and I think Southend are far more likely to go backwards than forwards as things stand. It's certainly going to be interesting.

I'm going to put a million pounds on the winners of the playoffs from the NLN/NLS to go straight back down.

Sorry Baz- I disagree.

No matter what the division- 9 times out of 10 your budget dictates where you finish, and we will have one of the top 3 budgets in the league. . . Also, with off the field sorted, and Unsworth having had a season to get his shit together, we should be nailed on for top 7- at least.

That's alright. I hope I'm wrong. Who do you see as the threats to you?

I think it will competitive- it always is. But in all honesty for a club of our size and budget in this league- I don’t think we should fear anyone expect Notts County if they don’t go up.

Us and Rochdale duelling it out for the title will be interesting.

wont be dogdale unless they have a frank like savior in the next few months if its monkey hangers can see them being a threat as they have got out of NL recently so know whats involved if southend can keep their squad together think they and spirites will be up there with us think we will start off slow

If Gateshead keep their team intact I think they may be an outside bet for the play-offs. Could be a Barrow-like campaign.

The division really is there for the taking next season if Notts go up. I've a peculiar feeling that Chesterfield will beat them in the play-offs though.

It's not nailed on obviously, but I do think it's reasonable to expect us to be top 7, especially if Notts County go up as well. The calendar year form table would back that up, seeing as we currently sit in 3rd.  But also, that same table shows that there's only 5 points between 3rd and 10th, so I think we can expect a very close season next year.

I'd probably have Chesterfield as favourites (if no Notts). They stuck with Cook during their mid season blip and have had a very good end to the season.

Didn't they sell their two best players last summer?

Southend will probably be thereabouts..

I'd say that is in the lap of the Gods. If there is no progress on the club being sold there could be a mass exodus in the summer. And they are still under embargo, I think.

I've not kept up with what's gone on at Rochdale what has actually gone wrong there is it just purely poor footballing decisions or is are there more behind the scenes problems.

I see Hartlepool have been put up for sale by their chairman which suggests they could be in for a period of transition.
