🥱....We need something to happen so we can all have a good old moan about it!!

Quite enjoying the peace and quiet. . until the euros- when we go 1 up inside 5 minutes and Southgate tries to defend the lead for the last 85 minutes.

Nah its good to just take a break from it all it's what the summer reset is about. Occasionally I dip in and out of here but I'm not expecting anything major to happen I reckon come the end of June we might start to see some activity. In the meantime watch some cricket or indulge in some other hobbies. The Euros will start next week so that will give people a footy fix too. Let all things Latics take a back seat for a couple of months.

After pretty much a decade where the entire club was looking over its shoulder I'm still glad we are going into a pre season where we have a good chance being stronger in August than we were in May. Be thankful for small things sometimes.

If his final squad selection is anything to go by he may have turned over a new leaf.  🤞

Not to turn this into an England thread. But the grief Southgate gets baffles me.

2 semi finals and a final?

His opinion is as valid as yours young Maurice

Just because someone is entitled to their opinion doesn't mean they are right or worth listening too.

Not really he picked the best team that was available it's just that this England team has some formidable attacking talent and has a distinct lack of depth in defence.

He has a lot of valid points, IMO.

Indeed. And he broke the club cliques

Yes, absolutely.

It is now a team we can all get behind and be proud of. Certainly not the case for the recent managers before him.

He will take some replacing when he goes.

Might as well, it was about being bored before that. .

On Southgate, he’s done a lot better than some of predecessors. But he falls short in the crucial tactical moments, which his record reflects. He reminds me of Poch at club level- good manager but not quite good enough to win anything. And with our squad/s winning something should be achievable- especially when you get 3/4 cracks at it.

Fully agree. He’s completely changed the style of football, the attitudes of players and how the majority of the public feel about the England team. As well as consistently reaching the end of tournaments.

The players he’s brought through and given experience too will make up the bulk of the squads for the next few tournaments. If we don’t win this one, or win one under him, I’m confident we’ll win something soon.

And we won nothing…

Italy was the game that convinced me he shackles the players too much / I just hope he gives our attacking talent a free rein this time…

In the next tournament we played more freely against France. Undone by Kane missing a pen and by giving too many chances to Giroud. But we didn’t sit back like against Italy. There’s always been progress under him. If he doesn’t take us all the way, the next guy probably will but Southgate should get huge credit for his role.

We got knocked out in the quarter final against France, but the rest I agree with.

We lost it in a penalty shootout in unfortunate circumstances. Give the guy some slack.

Previously the likes of Maguire, Henderson and Rashford might have figured though so it's a refreshing change that he's finally picked players in form.

Bit like us I think.

There's something not quite right about Southgate. Games like tonight an example.

He has done well in a couple of tournaments but I think - with the talent at his disposal - we should be playing better..

And were did I say it isn't?

Of course-it is a post by another glass half empty kindred spirit.

Always have a little chuckle at some of the comments thrown at this guy

I wouldn't mind but he's still posting exactly the same about our obvious shortcomings and now into the third season of total obscurity.

You lot haven't been able to prove him wrong, even with your glasses overflowing
