Is Josh Kay a good signing??

Don't know much about him apart from what I've just read....any first hand knowledge of him?

Seems on the surface a bit underwhelming but hopefully this won't be the case....

Why does it seem underwhelming?

He fits the MO of the type of player we were desperately missing last season. Wide player, two footed, has a burst of pace and plays with intensity and drive. Seems like a Colclough type of player to me.

Can’t say I’ve seen much of him but he was a real threat against us at Fyldes ground and scored. Not that it’s much to go off.

Micky knows what good looks like, I suppose we have to trust him.

He does seem quite focused on players he has worked with before.  Plusses and minuses to that; doesn't scream of a wide scouting network

If he didn’t have his CV and was a journeyman manager it could seem jobs for the boys. But Nors and Monthe (if he signs) have both left league one to play for him. I’d like to think it’s because he knows what good looks like. . 😬

The chances are I wont know much about the majority of signings that we make so who knows in time they will prove there worth good or bad.

Can anyone realistically say they have an indepth knowledge about players at this level to form a really strong opinion on the players we sign.

When did Norwood leave L1 to play for him?

Just because he seems to have spent most of his career at Fylde, Barrow or out on loan..

Some decent feedback from those that have seen him against us, and you seem to know quite a bit about him so thanks😊

I think from the teams we played last season I could name Ollie Banks (boo), Will Grigg (?) and Dominic Poleon.

Not a clue after that...

I can realistically say I saw quite a bit of Josh Kay in the 22/23 season...

Yes, he did take us apart, having said that we had no proper right back.

He does seem to fit into my dynamic philosophy though so hoping for the best.

Gets the ball in the box often and comfortable on either flank- 4 crosses per 90, slightly more from the right flank but split practically evenly.

Takes his man on often- 5 times per 90

Sticks to the flanks- 2 touches per game in the box on average

Looks to move the ball forward- 5 dribbles, 3 progressive runs 3 and 5.5 progressive passes per game.

Gets a lot of yellows- 8 or more in his 5 seasons as a pro, 10 or more in 3 of those

He looks like a pacey and powerful runner who is comfortable with either foot and likes to get stuck in. Varies his crosses too which will be a welcome change. Had a great relationship with Haughton last season so hopefully brings more out of Conlon.
