League one forever Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Looking forward to this, particularly if we win and we get to watch a Dean Brennan meltdown. Back 6 picks itself. Then I’d go Clucas Conlon Lundy. Then I genuinely don’t know. Do you stick with Mikey and Nors? Mikey in a purple patch, Nors was superb after being left out. Or does Stones come straight in with Norwood? You can make a case for both. Quote

I don’t think Conlon and Clucas would have the legs to be the 2 deeper lying midfielders controlling the game. 2 Quote
Littlemoor Lad Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I think I'd start with Norwood and Stones for this one Mikey will come on later and smash them to bits If we win this one I think we're going up 1 Quote

Who’s your midfield 3? Because I can’t see him dropping Conlon and Lundy, and Clucas hasn’t dropped 3 divisions to sit on the bench. Good problem to have mind. Quote

Now it's Mickey's dilemma. 1 Quote

Barnet away was one of the games Norwood could be arsed with last season, so it, might be for him. I don't know if it's better to have Mikey (*cough top-scorer*) batter then for 60 minutes then have the "finisher" come on against a tiring defence or have the "finisher" start and then have Mikey come on to tire them out. I think Stones probably starts. Nice problems to have... 1 Quote

BradKnowles1 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Think the team picks itself. You’ve got to Norwood and Fondop together. Some reason I’m not confident and have a bad feeling about Saturday Quote

Definitely good problems to have. Hopefully we can extend Payne as long as possible but if he does go then he may have to drop Lundstram deeper to push Clucas further forward which would also be harsh, but I don’t see Clucas and Conlon working together as a pair if i’m honest. Their experience alone may prove me wrong but I think you need someone in there to do the dirty work and I think Payne does that brilliantly. Quote

I don't think Mellon is that stupid to play Lundstrum in a deeper role, he struggles there so he either plays where he's been effective or misses out to Clucas, but he doesn't deserve that given he's been head and shoulders our best player through the last 6 weeks. Same goes for Fondop really whose done nothing to lose his place in the starting eleven. 2 Quote

doctor evil Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I think there's a chance we revert to a back 4 now. You could see Payne & Conlon as a double pivot, then Clucas and lundstrum further forward with the 2 strikers. Quote

disjointed Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 If we are going to play 2 up top I'd pair them off, Fondop/Drummond or Norwood/Stones. We know the F/D works as our recent results prove this and these would be my starting pair. 1hr of them 2 followed by N/S will rip up this division. 1 Quote

Although on this, he’ll not drop Lundstram from that role he’s given him I don’t think, based on his comments. I see the logic with it given Clucas’ layoff at Tranmere. Wont happen but both in there with Payne and 3 centre backs should work very nicely Quote

Could tell the team were t used to the formation Quote
penrhyn Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Barnet got done for pace late on at Exeter after they brought on two quick players. Quote
Dickie Down Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 There is very much the sense that the manager has been allocated the resources to do well in games like these. Here's hoping. Quote
