TheBigDog Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I wonder what the comparison of ‘Goals Scored From Long Throws’ stat would look like? Quote
Dave_Og Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 It's high time we had a penalty. Do we not even practice diving in training...? 2 Quote
the_mighty_bosh Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Hoping for a similar result and performance to the Braintree game earlier in the season, but it is a test and they're a team that we'll need to find a way to break down, all the while dealing with their long-throw threat at the other end. JoeP Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 What's the GN9 injury latest? Him and Stones start up front for me. Defence and keeper picks itself. Midfield is a thinker.. Quote

Clucas and Lundy in front of him. Quote

Don’t take as gospel obviously but hoping that it’s a good sign if true and that he’ll be back in the mix. Quote

I thought Norwood had reverted to type a bit against Barnet, to be honest (puts tin hat on..) Are wide players not considered a part of the midfield these days? I'd start with Jes, I reckon. If it's a game like Braintree, he might put in a similar performance.. Quote
nzlatic Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Strikers is a tough one. I’d probably just go with whichever 2 are the most match fit. Quote

I always see them as the back 5. Kitch and Caprice for me, unless they’re struggling for fitness- neither have been poor enough to deserve dropping/rotating. Plus I like Jes off the bench. I also think Barnet away is of one the toughest away games, so I’m not going to judge them to closely after last Sat. (That’s also my reasoning with Nors, so I wouldn’t be shocked if he started Sat) If it’s a poor attacking performance on Sat then make changes for Dale. Quote
GlossopLatic Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 (edited) Think this is a game we should go with 2 upfront so I'd start Norwood and Fondop if fit, if not Stones. I'm not sure of Stones and Fondop will work as a partnership but I'm sure we will see it at some point. Interms of dealing with the long throw if we have possession of the ball that weapon can't be utilised against us take Control of the game. Edited November 14, 2024 by GlossopLatic 1 Quote

He’s excellent at defending corners and so should be used in the same manner to defend their long throw ins as well as obviously offering us his presence up top. 5 Quote
Frankly Mr Shankly Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 This, potentially has the hallmarks of the Kidderminster home match last season. Really physical, newly-promoted midlands-based team floating around the relegation zone. Another decent test, one we failed miserably on last season. I'd like Fondop back for this one, if only for the frequency he gets his head on balls inside our own box off set pieces. if we play fast-paced, high tempo stuff like we did against Halifax, Braintree and FGR we'll have these two or three down by half time. Lags Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 The only dilemma for me is in midfield. Regardless who starts up top at some point the bench forwards will be on the pitch. The timing of which will be dictated by the state of play. It's happened time and time again for countless sides where a manager as an abundance of midfielders to strike a right balanced or blend of disposable players, yet tries to shoe horn in the most talented. That said we really should be tearing Tamworth several new arseholes. Quote
spanishfly Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 (edited) I hope this is where it might all just click for us. Stamp our authority on the game from the start, get an early goal; at least 3-0 for us. I`d like 5 or 6 but I think MM would instruct to to shut up shop once we have that 3 goal cushion. Frankly Mr Shankly Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Referre is the same one as Gateshead home this season, the 202 at their place and the Chesterfield 2-2 at home last season. Loves a draw, shortarse. 1 Quote

Agree with this. If big Mikey is fit, he's very good at defending our box and would help with the long throw threat. Good to have so many starting options and can see this being attack Vs defence with them trying for set pieces and the odd counter. From stats above they seem to be in okay form but I'm hoping a 2-0, 3-0 game Edited November 15, 2024 by deckyd Quote
