Highly likely to be called off.

Really? According to the met office app it isn’t zero or below at any point from early Friday morning onwards and the lowest it’s been in the last 48 hours is -2. That’s well within frost cover range isn’t it?

It was -4 and even lower at ground level earlier in the week. If its already frozen, I'd imagine we'll run out of time for it to thaw?

A real shame if so as Saturday afternoon onwards is considerably warmer.

@Lukers1 is that a guess or have you heard from someone at one of the clubs?

Frost covers protect down to that temperature don't they? I get it if it's days of persistant deep frost, but a one off event 5 or 6 days before the game should be manageable I would have thought. Although, I have no sports ground management experience so this is all guesswork!

I had in my mind that frost covers protected to -3 but could be wrong.

Wonder when they'll do a pitch inspection? You'd think police will want it called off by Friday evening.

I've read -4 and -5 in different places but that was just off a google search so not very scientific. I have seen an image online of them using those heaters on wheels so they're making an effort to get it on.

Either way @BradKnowles1 knows the groundsman so should be able to give us some guidance on whether the game is going ahead!

Where did you see that picture by the way? Very little chat on twitter and on their forum about the game.

I had a quick glimpse at #rafc on twitter.

I was looking at it from a different angle that the temperature is increasing on Saturday, so coupled with the snow and ice melting and any rain on Saturday that it might be waterlogged and not postponed because of a frozen pitch.

I am starting to get in the zone preparing my body for a 10.00 to 10.30 drinking start time, I hope they let us know soon so I can wind down :)

Looks the most likely to me. Water coming up and water coming down isn't great.

Frozen this morning they have the lamps on. Forecast looks favourable however, the 12:30 kick off might be a problem.

Given it's a local match (though I recognise there are always some long-distance journeys for some) they could make a late decision if they think the forecast is favourable with 24 hours to go to KO - say 10:30 inspection on the day?

Can’t see GMP wanting Latics fans in Rochdale if they don’t need to be. If they get involved I think an early decision will be made.

We are advised by Rochdale that covers are currently in place ahead of Saturday's game and they are confident the pitch will be playable.

They were confident in 2010 despite it having hosed down all day prior...
