Pro footballers often get stick for their attitude given the money they can earn (not so much at NL level) but these kinds of stories deserve more publicity if the players are happy to allow it. What a wonderful thing to do, hope the young lad continues to get better. Quote

JoeP Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Whatever you think of Tom Conlon as a player, he puts a shift in for Latics community activities. Manny Monthe too. Conlon was at the kids Christmas party last night, was involved in the article earlier in the thread, visited the kids ward in the hospital. Leads by example. They've all been superb on that front, to be fair with the Carol concert at the church, etc. 3 Quote

Just for info, freedom of choice, plenty of other subjects in the forum for healthy debate and challenges, whoever set this thread up obviously wanted a change. It can happen just stay off this thread and leave the ones who wanted a positive only chat here (although I do agree unfettered positivity is difficult ). I have a feeling the person who set it up was experimenting to see how far he got before a post like yours arrived. Quote

It's a wonderful example of Godwins law certainly. The amount of posts on this board complaining about debate being stifled is getting frustrating. The main thrust of this seems to be a belief that all opinions carry the same weight they don't. Some are based on hunches and some are based more towards the evidence. Those that are closer to reality carry more weight. It's getting frustrating watching other posters lecturing others how debate works we all know how debate works on here it's fine we don't need to be told that. If you are having to use freedom of speech to defend your position then you're point is weak and you are losing the argument. Anyway back to the point of this thread - Good to see the players getting their hands in with the junior Latics Christmas party last night. We have a good group who are not just delivering on the pitch but also seem to want get involved of the pitch too. - We can all trust the board and owners to do the right thing by the club - We can trust the Msmagercand coaching team who have won promotions to keep everyone focused in the second half of the season. It's a good time to support our club at the moment everything is pointing in the right direction, and for that reason their isn't alot to debate at the moment ironically. Quote
