Twill be this one - it was rammed with Latics last season, the locals were a very friendly bunch as well. I'm thinking of getting down there early doors to catch the Red Soxx - Arrogant Continentals match, dependant on how much beer comes my way the night before. It will be a long day with the Calzaghe fight at 1 in the morning.

cheers Andy - how best to get from Well Sarf London to Leyton? Drive? leave car at a tube station?

Depends really - Bromley isn't on the Underground, you are most likely going to want to get to a main line station to get a train into London. Ideally heading to London Bridge, then underground to Bank and connecting to Leyton. Although I don't really know that area too well (as evidenced that I kipped on the sofa of the OASIS driver near Bromley last night as neither of us knew how to get to Croydon  ). It might even be that you can get a couple of buses so save you going into town to go out again. This journey planner thingy should help.

And people who are going to use the tube or buses in London should get one of these, miles easier than getting tickets and it's loads cheaper.

There's an 'Ale Bonanza' with over 30 ales available at the Orient Supporters' Club on Friday night and Saturday after 6.00pm for visitors.

It’s a shame that Southern CAMRA people would blacklist any event where the beer wasn’t served flatter than a witch’s tits.

You might find that a Lees house just won Greater Manchester Pub of the Year Mr Sideburns.

That would be the New Oxford in Salford. It gets rave reviews, but they seem to keep any reference to JWL a very closely guarded secret.

A 'continental style real ale bar' is a far cry from its days as the Oxford (as featured in the 'Love on the Dole' film), which I used to pass going to and from school every day. Mark E. Smith might bump into Morrisey in there, as it's not far from Salford Lads' Club.

I see even JWL has got in on the act, by signing a 10-year deal to distribute Czech lager Bohemia Regent - it's the future. JWL is offering the product to establishments in every region and customers can price it themselves, incuding any prospective tenant of the Clayton Arms, if he or she can afford to instal all the necessary fixtures and fittings, including the kitchen sink.

Mr Richie will be there .... anyone needing info on orient give me a PM.

Are you sure it's not Derek Griffiths masquerading as Lionel?

Here's Derek on the other side of the bar in the 'Coach and Horses' in 1972, mixing with a famous Hammers' fan, Selwyn Froggitt/Greengrass and Tony Blair's father-in-law.

WARNING: CONTAINS A LESSON IN HOW TO DEAL WITH A RACIST BIGOT.

Wrong call Diego, it's the Tandle Hill Tavern. A bit of a hidden Latics stronghold as it happens

I was misled by your 'Greater Manchester Pub of the Year' claim.

It actually won the second-rate title of best pub in the Co-operative Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2007. A bit like winning 'The Championship' nowadays and being presented with the trophy that used to apply to the top flight in English football.
