Guest walshy
Basacly my laptop is wireless and it is in range and picking up the signall from my wireless internet. I click "connect to network" then enter the WEP key (26 key) and it then shows me a message "please wait while windows connects to the WANADOO-5570 network." As soon as it is done it just returns to the page that shows me there is a wireless network in range. Please help. Thanks
Matt
Are you connected though Walshy? Check on the little graphic in the bottom right hand corner Like this: - just roll your mouse pointer over it - what does it say? Does it have a little red cross on it? or a yellow/black exclamation mark? Does it say "Limited or no connectivity"? What is the signal like to the network? Stevie_J
I've never used wireless router but that looks as it should, I think. Did you manage to get your hotmail sorted in outlook, by the way?
Guest walshy
No i just left it. I was being lazy anyway it's only one click on my start menu. Cheers anyway
Matt
Okay there's nothing wrong with your laptops NIC. Before we start having a look at the settings on the router, I would like you to turn your laptop off, Pc off and remove the power to the router, unplug the ethernet cables REMEMBER WHERE YOU TOOK THEM FROM. Leave it off for a minute. Connect the ethernet cable to the Livebox. Power on the Livebox Put the other end into your pc. Power on your pc Make sure you have connection. Power on your laptop. Believe it or not 90% of problems can be sorted by turning everything off. See what happens If you are still unable to get a wireless connection on your laptop we'll go to your internal admin on the LIVEBOX.
Guest walshy
Ok done what you said and no such luck. Still picking up my livebox (and now a sky one.) The only difference now is it keeps saying "acquiring network address"

Guest walshy
Rummy i have done it. i literally just went on "create new connection" pressed "next" lots of times and it has just done it. wierd
Matt
What I'd do Walshy is try and get a firmware update from orange/wanadoo/ or inventel and an update disk as well. If it goes down again. Just unplug it again, press the 1 button on the base and reconnect again. Glad you are up and running again.... I'm late for the quiz!
