Maybe less. It's pretty likely a fixed sum is allocated on a spend that as you see fit basis. If you spunk £50k on Colbeck that's £50k that can't be spent on another wage. So you end up with a :censored: player using up a wage and his fee stopping you having strength in depth too. Made up numbers (guesses) here. A half decent striker would cost us £125k a year in wage. Carl Winchester justifies a pay rise of £100k a year to match what the likes of Wesolowski earned. You've got £125k of budget held back for a striker.
