  1. Neville & Carragher were discussing Everton back 3 yesterday and how having 2 x 30 year old plus defenders (Williams & Jags) is too much, they are slowing down and dropping too deep, conceding lots of goals. They reckoned a back 3 should have at least 2 good mobile players to play that system. It seems to be our issue as well.

  2. If Hunt is still out I'd play Wilson LB and Law RB. With goals so hard to come by, I think it's essential to have a set piece specialist on the pitch. We had a great position for a FK yesterday. Law on the pitch could be the difference maker, like in Shez's first game.

  3. Also won a pen, commentators called him a fox in the box..isn't that what we wanted here?

They also said every teams needs players like McKay and Rooney who can take one chance and score.

Obviously they sharpened their skills here.

Would like to have seen McKay, Ladapo even Winchester remain and have Shez slot them in his reenergised team. Think sending McKay back in the window without having a replacement lined up has left us lacking options up top.

  4. Andy Mitten is a big United fan but good football journo who covers all sorts of quirky stories and travels round the world writing for various print.

I was surprised at the level of Mrs Nevilles support and how she still considers herself an Oldham fan. Should merge her husbands bank account with Scholes and pay him back for making her take the whole family to Spain with 2 weeks notice.

  5. Ladapo and Burgess have the physical attributes to be good in their positions but mentally they've been pretty poor whilst here. The miss v Port Vale by Ladapo was woeful. Burgess lucky to have played alongside Clarke. Gave away penaltys at the start of the season. And his performance and passing v Southend (h) was one of the worst by a defender I've seen in a while.

  6. Why is Wilson so often overlooked? Wasn't even on the bench last night. Good pro, was regular captain at Colchester so can help Clarke organise. Would've been good at CB or RB last night (Dummigan can play LB if Dunne or Reckord not fancied).

Wilson has experience and is pretty consistent. Played in our cup wins v Wigan & Fleetwood and scored v Blackburn recently. Played in the league win at Gillingham as well.

Should be given a run to help steady the ship in my opinion.

  7. Dunne runs back away from the ball on the first, misjudged the flight. If he holds his position then Streete doesn't score. Poor anticipation on the second as well. And Burgess is slow to react and block the follow up. Should be getting in the scorers face instead of hanging back and blocking Ripleys view.

Encouraging feedback from the general play though in recent games against decent opponents. Plenty of reason for optimism.
