Quite correct - and it's depressing.

The small group I used to go to Latics with have all dropped by the wayside over the years i.e. one died and the rest have just stopped going. Consequently, I now go to be entertained solely by the football (whereas in the past it was just good to catch up with friends even when the football was bobbins).

Unsworth's "brand" of football bores me - so I decided to take a break, hoping he'd be gone sooner rather than later. He's clearly going nowhere. Conversely, he's clearly taking us nowhere either - this season or next.

I have a decision to make.

same here, used to go to away games and stay over for a night out as well. People gradually moved away, including yours truly and lost interest. But this is truly the worst football and players Ive seen representing the Latics

Iirc he scored 1 at BP in 1-1 draw which saw him celebrate  in front of the chaddy hence him getting a lot of stick for the reverse fixture at filbert street  lots of "wheres your hatrick Alan Young " from the traveling tics especially after big Jim Steel banged in the winner for a 1-0 win was a very happy trip back on the latics liner

I stand corrected, my memory must be playing tricks with me! I do recall him scoring at BP and spitting in front of the dugout and my grandad blew a gasket after seeing that. Probably some beef with Sir Jimmy. AY claimed he wasn’t told of other clubs interest in him, including city and that he he’d been offered to city.

  3. Wasn’t Alan Young the first player to move on freedom of contract and the fee decided by a panel? Can’t remember the fee, although at the time it looked like we got robbed, £200k maybe?

Before The next Leicester match at BP, he was saying he wanted to score a hat-trick against us and he did, then proceeded to spit in front of the Oldham dugout.

Ended up a bit of a croc at Leicester who then shipped him out to Sheff United. I met a blades fan once and asked him about AY and he shook his head and said they’d named a wing of the local hospital after him as he was always in there
