  1. The FA/PL know they can get away with this. Most football fans don‘t care.

Decisions like this should surely be made in consultation with the clubs it affects.

They keep chipping away at things. How long will it be until we get the suggestion of B teams in the league again?

Surely a solution to this could be like the FA Trophy, where teams can agree before the game to either extra time/pens or a replay after 90?

Yes and we weren't also discussing our football clubs on the Internet back then either I'm sure the Internet was seen as trendy rubbish too then eh?

Yes, and our "traditional" scouting methods have made it so we haven't been in 30 years of decline either...!

My word, what is so scary about stats and incorporating a bit of data analysis into our scouting methods? We don't even know for sure how we use this information. Just something else to moan about, even though there's no proof as to what the moan is about.

He had a long period of good results. He's now had a period of bad results. He's not absolved of blame or of having any pressure on him when we have bad results of course but some of the reactions have been nuclear. The squad still has mostly the same issues it did last summer. I don't think one winter of transfer activity is enough for him to properly fix those issues.

There are no obvious solutions in our current squad that he's leaving out so is it fair to heap as much pressure as this on him at this point? I don't think it is.

    Yes, I agree.

The main issue for me has been recruitment over the past 18 months. Some signings not working out is ok, it happens. I just don't understand the imbalance in the squad, and the fact that has not been addressed and we seemingly signed players that it did not look like we needed. We need some width and a bloody right back. Hopefully, we can sort that out this summer.

  4. Garner and Fondop went through a bit of a purple patch... but, Fondop has scored 7 goals this season. He scored 4 goals in 3 games, then started the next 3 without scoring. Not saying their partnership was not promising, but Fondop has shown he can not score consistently throughout his career and I think Mellon prefers him as an impact sub.

Even so, with the hoofball tactics employed, Fondop is clearly the only kind of target man the ball can stick to. Norwood has been pretty disappointing since returning from injury. He was a shoe-in for 20 league goals this season and now I am confident he will not reach that target (unless we change our style of play).

He’d say it wasn’t deliberate. But I don’t think that’s the rule. His arms were stretched wide. If that’s a defender in the area then it’s a penalty.

Kitching dragged back deliberately off the ball when overlapping into space. No foul. No play on waved.

The replay looked worse, it definitely looked like he knew what he was doing controlling it.

oh well. We‘re not losing because of the ref, he‘s just making it worse.

I seldom see others commenting that we possess a far superior. In fact, most comments are measured and put across the reality of our situation: we have an inconsistent group of players and that is to be expected given the level we are at.

What doesn't help is how whenever we sign a player, they get hyped up. This happened with Lundstrum, Conlon etc and that view becomes crystallised based on a Player of the Year award for one season or reading other supporter forums. I'd like that to stop because time and again the pedestal isn't warranted, leading too far much expectation.

Our task is simple: win five of our last six to have any hope of a PO spot. I'm afraid to say Mellon and the players have squandered a massive opportunity, not deliberately of course and perhaps it's a stretch too far this year. I must say I'm closer to the view that we won't do make it. Such a shame.

I said yesterday that today almost felt like a must-win. Fylde is now most definitely a game we have to win.

    Perfectly put.

I think it's probably more of an internet/social media thing tbf, people set their stall out and just refuse to change their opinion. Which I find really odd when it comes to football, surely you want your own clubs players to prove you wrong?

Think some people enjoy moaning more than celebrating.

Always the same piss boil when we lose and crickets when we win. (It’s ok to moan a bit, but sometimes it really is a bit melodramatic).

Obviously our home performances haven’t been great, but Mellon‘s overall record is. Even if the performances are inconsistent, the results really aren‘t. (I‘m sure we‘ll figure out the home form eventually)

We are on course to finish in the playoffs, we all would‘ve taken that after the start to the season and we should celebrate that!

I wish people would stop judging Sheron who is our highest scoring midfielder and third overall top scorer, and who actually contributes far more than biscuit Dan or Josh the ghost.

He‘s got the same amount of league goals as Dickenson (according to the BBC)… not exactly a high bar. Not to get on the Sheron hate train again, but anyone watching our midfield constantly struggle can see he is part of the problem. It‘s so obvious at this point and a rather strange hill to die on.

Even so, he‘ll be part of the starting eleven til the end of the season, and so we‘ll need to rely on hoofball getting is the results we need.

  9. Another poor performance. For how defensive we set up, and having most of the team play as defenders, we are shit at defending.

The midfield is unbelievably poor. Today was just utterly clueless. Long ball after long ball. What was the plan?

The recruitment has been so poor since we‘ve been in this league none of the new players off any improvement.

Next home game, we have to be set up different, but I doubt anything will change.

Even so, if Lundstram had buried his one-on-one, we‘d have been 2-1 up… instead two mins later we were 2-1 down! Ah… football.
