  1. Pretty gutted Allott isn't staying. He was the only player in the entire squad you could guarantee would give his all for the club he loves week in week out.

So many on here seem to be glad to to see the back of him. Wonder if they are the same people who moan and groan about players not showing commitment?

A successful central midfield pairing usually consists of a holding/linking player along side a visionary/flare player such as a Wellens or a Kilkenny.

Personally I would have given him the two year deal he wanted and then concentrated efforts on finding a quality playmaker to team him up with.

Why Allott could not have been the steady rock partnered with a more skillful player than Whittaker or Maher is beyond me.

I'm usually an optimist but I can see there being a big 'rat' shaped hole in the middle of the park next season.

But lets see who comes in through the revolving door at BP to replace him.

  2. Well after the events in recent weeks, both on and off the field, I suppose this was always on the cards. I'd just like to thank John Sherdian for all his efforts over the last 3 years as our manager and the previous outstanding service as a player and a coach.

I was always in favour of giving JS at least till the end of the season, then he could have been judged correctly to have either suceeded (would probably been by the skin of our teeth!) or failed to get us out of this division.

Having said that, if he had lost the dressing room, then its a near impossible task to get it back and results would have continued to suffer.

I wouldn't class myself as a 'happy clapper' but I always try to stay optimistic about Latics even in the darkest of days.

But to all the 'Shez Outtters' on here and the morons calling for his head at the game yeasteday, what are your expectations for this club?

Do you really think TTA are going to be flooded with applications for the job from experienced, successfull managers? I doubt it.

Thinking realistically of people who fall into this bracket, would Boothroyd, Cotterill et al really relish the prospect of coming to BP? I can't see it somehow.

So who does that leave on the list? Jim Gannon? Not sure why he seems to be a popular choice. He's done well at County on limited resources but in my eyes isn't as good as Sheridan in any department.

A return for Big Fat Joe or Stitch? I'd love to see Royle back but I don't think he would be up for it. Is Ritchie any better qualified than Sheridan to take us up? Not sure.

I can see the reality being the appointment of another 'Ronnie Moore or Brian Talbot' type of manager, someone who is just there to take a wage and doesn't give a damn about the club.

Who would wecome a return to 'hoof-ball' next season?

Just feels to me than even tho he's made mistakes recently (who hasn't!), the board have been swayed by the fans who fail to get behind Shez and the team.

So for all of you who got on his back who do we replace him with now? Who can we get to come to the club who would be a better manager, get better results and play better football?

After listening to the opinions of the fans of other clubs on Sheridan, a lot seem to think we're daft for getting rid of one of the best young managers in the league. He won't be out of work for too long and I'm sure he'll be a sucess as a manager.

  3. A big well done to all those who walked to Leeds for Ernie. :applause1:

One of the lads from Rochdale had also walked from Oldham to Rochdale last Tuesday. He is a window cleaner and always likes a handicap when walking, so he carries he ladders on his shoulder. While in the pub at Leeds for a well-earned pint, some bastard stole his ladders! How low (no pun intended) can people stoop?

We could now do with a fundraiser to help him replace his ladders

I was on the walk Diego. All of us who took part had a whip round for 'moggy' so he could get a new set of ladders.

We thought it was the least we could do following such a great effort from him, the walk itself was grueling enough so it must have been even harder for him and he's not even a latics fan!

Thanks to all those who made a donation. We would have made a lot more money but Leeds wouldn't let us do a collection inside the ground!
