  1. "I'd be happy with staying up, not going bust and starting to re-develop Boundary Park at the end of this season - anything else, e.g. a cup run, would be a massive bonus & to be honest a bit of a shock"

Post from August after we lost the first 3 games - I'm not saying that we are safe yet and I still worry about the finances but if we get some news on the ground it could be a full house for me

  2. "In years gone by we got in old heads to steady the ship - Mick McGuire & Paul Jones spring to mind - not sure if these types are around these days on affordable wages but I think that we could do with some experience - I'd take a bore draw at Scunny & a lucky win versus the Dale now - goals win games and they have been a massive problem since not long after the turn of the year - Smith is a massive gamble that may yet come off (fingers crossed) but he looked like a poor man's Ormondroyd/O'Callaghan versus the Blades - KTF - I'd be happy with staying up, not going bust and starting to re-develop Boundary Park at the end of this season - anything else, e.g. a cup run, would be a massive bonus & to be honest a bit of a shock"

I posted the above a few days ago - PD brings in the kids (far from experienced!!) and Latics win plus Smith rams my comment about him down my throat - Well done to all!!

Sounded like a battling performance last night - love listening to Gordon & Roy on LP - As I live in the IOM and don't get to many matches their commentaries are the next best thing

Would still take a lucky win versus the Dale!!

  4. I think the City/United match on the same day was postponed and it all kicked off in the Chaddy with Oldham, City, Utd & Bolton all in there - might have the wrong year though - I missed the match so what I've been told over the years may (hopefully) have been exaggerated - glad those days are gone even if the atmosphere is not as good - we ran the gauntlet up Sheepfoot Lane or along Furtherwood Road many, many times to speed away in my Dad's Morris 1000!!

  6. i work with a load of wednesday fans who can clearly remember the riot game. Just about got memories of it as i was only 10 at the time

I was with my Dad in the Ford Stand paddock nearest the Chaddy - chaos - went across the pitch and up the tunnel - passed Big Jack crying his eyes out at the top of the tunnel - that game and the City match in 83 or 84 were bad - was lucky enough to miss the notorious Bolton match at home in 76? Some things have changed for the better!!

  7. Blackburn match was on Boxing Day 1981 - we were going really well with some good youngsters (Ryan, Atkinson, Heaton & McDonough) but got done and never really recovered - crowd was over 15,000

I think the United match was in 1984/5 but could be wrong

Stoke match was 1979 (Alan Young's best season - he left to go to Leicester on freedom of contract? - also Stainrod arrived)

  8. Random memories from a good few years ago

United at home in a friendly - I think Wayne Harrison scored - now there was a player

Blackburn at home - match switched from Ewood Park - we got battered and Noel Brotherston had a blinder

Stoke away in the FA Cup - abandoned due to snowstorm - I think we were losing when it was abandoned but won the replay - didn't go to this one but it was on the telly when being on the telly was a rare thing

Not been this season yet as I live in the IOM - still, I've got my memories
