  1. Getting an experience person in seems to work for Notts County - Keith Curle and Colin Lee are doing fine.

I think we'll be getting a Technical Director / Assistant Manager. Though I hope it is someone with experience.

I hope its not jobs for the boys again (apart from Dux - I do feel for him).

I like I've said before there's a lot out ex-managers out there, Little, Gregory, Kinnear, Horton, McIIroy, Worthington and Burley to name a few.

Whatever happens, the second half of the season will be interesting. Just hope we don't become like Blackburn.

  2. I think Dickov immediate future is dependent on the Nottm Forest game. I can't see Dickov going before the Scunthorpe game on the 1st and 4 days later the club's biggest game of the season so far- Corney very keen on a cup run.

After that its back to the league and respite which would be ideal to bring a new manager in.

My concern has been his backroom staff - for 3 seasons we / Dickov have been moaning about our defence. Surely this situation should have been addressed. Maybe if he had a defence coach more will happen. I know people will refer to Taggart BUT additional help would help the youngesters progress. I rather win 1-0 than lose 2-1. I am not worried by the style of football - we haven't progess for a long time.

What ever happens, I think the club's coaching / management structure needs addressing maybe dare I say a technical director post is required to encourage youth, though being a bit savvy with transfers.

that's only my 2 pennies worth.

  3. An interesting twist on notmustwingamesgate tonight in Penney's post-match interview. Turns out that today was a must win game because of Gillingham's position next to us in the table. Makes me wonder if we'd have drawn or lost he'd go back to his analogy of only must win games being at the end of the season where you need three points to stay up...

A fair point. I don't think PR is Penney's strong point. But what is?

  4. I would pretty much agree. I said the games against Brentford and Gillingham could prove crucial because the remaining fixtures look pretty bloody tough. We knicked it today and that might just be the difference between staying up or being relegated but I can see us being dragged in and having to get a result in the final game against Charlton. Eek!

Not that survival will be enough to save Penney's job.

I think if we do get relegated - Penney will stay. He knows this division as well as anyone and we have division 3 players anyway, Colbeck & Purdie to name a few. Oh I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor was sold cheaply as well. ~£200k.

  5. Looking at the fixtures the only 3 points I think we will get is at home to Southend. The rest of the fixtures look too hard (for thsi team) and our bogey team Bristol Rovers is the next home game, I can't see us escaping  . Specially when we haven't scored more than 2 goals in a game all season. Our only hope is the teams around us mess up too (he's to wishful thinking).

  6. I know it sounds daff but Hoddle runs a academy for second chance players. ie players who have not made it the first time round.

Let him use some of these players (making him some money  ), adding to his wages the club will pay (basically a selling club).

Having a big name at the club will raise attendances and media cover of the club. Thus we may get higher profile players interested in joining? No doubt the football will get better. What more he would have contacts and probably a half decent scouting network available.

Oldham seems to do something when the players are rejects and have something to prove - Royles team was made up from Leeds & Man City rejects Irwin, Barrett, Pointon etc & even more recent Dowie team consisted of players who fell out of the league - Fitz & Andrews to name two!

That's just my 2 pennys worth (pardon the pun)

    What do you think?

  7. I'm sorry to say I'm a 'internet' supporter of the Latics since moving down south along time ago.

BUT looking at the match stats (I know doesn't tell you everything about a match) we never get more than 5 shots on target and Attempts is less than 10. How the heck are we to score goals. GOD only knows how Abbott has scored the amount he has.

I'm guessing we haven't a midfielder supporting the forwards (which I thought Taylor,Whittaker etc were attacking midfielders  ) or are we just sitting back hoping for a set piece to score from?

Can someone tell me what going on?

  8. I'm afraid he's job is untenable specially after doggate. Things need changing straight away - Even if it means a Director of Football. There is nothing new that we haven't seen over the last 2 seasons. It seems we don't have legs or heart after December. I think this month will be a massive one for the club - TTA have signals changes in the finance & the signning of veterans haven't push the club forward as we like.

The scouting network is either not listen to or is very poor. The players who normally do well for us are players trying to prove a point, this has always been the case. I think transfer policy of getting experience players hasn't worked and won't work.

I think we need a manger with the lower leagues experience - I think Gannon will probably be in place for next season, specially after the Brighton fiasco (offering him the job, only to receed it).

I think next season will be a very hard!

  9. Shez isn't the target of my frustration anymore. Let's be honest, the signs have been there for the majority of the season. I take no pride in flogging a dead horse.

My absolute anger and frustration is towards TTA.

Why have they let it get to this?

This season was our biggest and best chance of promotion for a long, long time. We've had arguably our best striker (may I add, on form!) for a few years and a very strong backbone of a team, not to mention financial backing at every opportunity which has gone unappreciated and talked-down publicly. And we're playing in a division which, I believe, is the weakest it's been for a long time with only one stand-out team.

They first made their anger known around the time of the Yeovil home defeat. Can probably count on one hand the number of exciting home games since and I'd still be able to pick my nose.

Xmas was coming, we were still uninspiring. A perfect chance to bring a new guy in and allow him the transfer window.

The transfer window passes, journeymen strikers come and go. And still come and go...

Pi$$ poor performances more often than not, behind the scenes bust ups and scandal, dirty laundry aired in public, and days off between what were massive home games yet became a pathetic and draining waste of a few hours of our life.

The last straw for me was months ago and I firmy believe, deep down, TTA shared the same view long before the masses jumped on post Col U and doggygate. Even then, get rid of him and give a new manager free reign for 10 games and hope his honeymoon period will get us through the play-offs. Realistically our only hope. But nothing.

Now a masive top of the table clash has been and gone with a 6-2 hammering and we find ourselves out of the play-offs (to be fair I can't believe we've hung on so long). The way things have been recently, now we're chasing, do we honestly believe we've the bottle to claw a play-off place back?

I believe Shez will be gone in the summer. Along with our best striker and chance of promotion for a long time. Yet the latter could've and I believe would've been avoided had the former been done a long long time ago.

TTA, you've a duck egg in charge who will now cop for a hell of a lot of abuse (with some personal). You guys could've avoided this when you first saw the cracks. I think we all realise that you'll never get a return on your investment but if you wanted to get sommat back then your blinkered 'loyalty' and lack of bottle has put a stop to that.

The dwindling attendances, abysmal performances and negative aura around the club has sucked the life out of it and us. Not one person is big and important enough to be able to do that alone.

A pathetic, uninspiring and embarrassing excuse for a football club.

I think that is really harsh - T3A have done alot for the club. Lets not forget the club was minutes of going under before they came in. Both Moore & Shez have had more resources than any other manager except Dowie. Okay Shez time is at hand but at the beginning of the season who would sacked him?? Since they been here we haven't been in relgation fight unlike the days of before Chris Moore.

These things happen in football - but at least the club is still here!

  10. I feel for the fans watching these matches. I'm in the South and can't make the games but what I hear things are shocking. BUT one question are Gregan & Hazell that good a partnership has the Chron make out?

I think Crossley wouldn't be a bad caretaker manager until the new season, if it was the question of money to get someone in. Oh Windass has all his coaching licences - so be warned.

  11. I think the T3A will have someone lined up already (look what they did with signning Hughes). I think The Doggate thing nail Shez coffin but the MK Dons result must of buried him 6-2?? I have a feeling that Adams or Cotterill would have been sounded put, as they are jobless. Though I must admit Gannon has done wonders with Stockport. I think Ince is pie in the sky -t oo much money.
