promotion is worth far more to bates than £500,000 or so in January. thats the sort of fee we would get with such little time left on his contract. promotion to the champonship is worth around £4million alone. the likelihood is Beckford will sign a new contract when we go up anyway as our wage budget will shoot up therefore being able to offer him what he's demanding. if he leaves for free and he's got us promoted then he will leave with our best wishes afterall he doesnt owe us anything.

p.s i know promotion isnt guaranteed but were looking a good bet for it at the moment.

Beckford will take us up this season. were running the risk of him going on a free at the end of the season so theres no way we will let him go in january but if he goes come the end of the season but gets us promoted we wont care. in the championship we will attract a better player than Beckford anyway. look at Vokes for example hes come from a premiership club to us and he turned down 3 championship clubs to sign.

We'll have more :censored: results this season, I have no doubt. However, we'll have some good ones too. We'll probably beat Leeds.

 

We're not going up this season. Will we challenge next year? We might, we might not. I'm fairly sure we'll look a better outfit in 12 months time though. Only two types of teams tend to go up from this league - those backed by ££ (think Leicester, Wigan, Swansea, Peterborough) or those who have built something over a period of a few years (Scunny twice, Southend, Col U).

 

If it takes us 5 years to get up, it takes us 5 years. Keep the faith.

Any team that double marks him snuffs him out of the game, tbh he's a bit of a tart the first time you lot get on his back he'll be crying for him mum. Anyhow we'll see, but it wouldn't surprise me if we did sell him and cheaply. Looks great in full-flight but very little end product and has a bit of a rep with refs for diving so gets very few decisions these days. The game at your place last season was probably the highlight of his career. He can be fantastic but it's all too fleeting.

 

If i'm honest given his minimal input from October/November last season I wouldn't be that gutted to see him leave. The only thing that would concern me exacerbating the lack of width in the team.

you have to laugh. Taylor has been the best thing since sliced bread to all latics fans since he broke onto the scene. the moment it looks like he is on his way to to Leeds then sudddenly hes a nothing player. sour grapes anyone ?

they have to spend 6mill on buying thorpe road back by the end of august or loose the rights to use it apparently, also need to re-purchase elland road before a certain timeline as well

not correct, firstly our training ground is called Thorp Arch and secondly we can carry on using it for as long we like. we just dont own it, its currently rented to ourselves. but yes if the rumours are true then its going to cost £6 million to repurchase it.
