anybody know the official away attendance..ie how many we had there?
obliged
I want to know too ! you can usually find it on the home website or failing that the away website but I can't find it anywhere . Estimates range from 800 - 1200 so I guess it was about 1000 but I'm always interested to know the exact fugure.

As well as the Ernie flag not being allowed to be displayed on tuesday night ( even though it was publised in the official programme) . Why could I not sit in the front row of the upper tier . Was that a fire risk as well? i could see no reason why we could not use the front two rows !

With yesterday being the first trip to Hillsborough in 5 years, it was the first visit for the flag.
Those who went might have noticed that it was not up in the ground. A full explanation is included within the report that's now online.
iT'S A BIT STRANGE THEN THAT THE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME HAD AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF IT!!

He's hired by the Premier League isn't he?
I presume it's Atwell again?
I'm a great believer in referees being unduely slaughtered, but this guy doesn't make it easy on himself.
NB. Having had a quick look though. Turner takes the free kick. On this occasion the ref is spot on. It's a bizarre goal, but he stops the ball, knocks it back. Unless there is something in the sound I am missing - then that is just poor play from Sunderland.
I don't think anyone can claim he took the free kick .From the strength of the kick it was clearly a flick back in the direction of the keeper to send a long ball forward. The ref couldn't have possibly seen it ( he had his back to the ball!). So... The blame goes to the linesman ( asst ref ! sorry!) whom the ref consulted b/4 giving the goal. It was bizarre though!

Perhaps half of money over and above £4.50 could go to Playershare.

I personally dont think we would sell out a 12,000 seater stadium very often in the Championship, I dont mean that in a pessimistic manner just realistic. I would rather see my team in a stadium which doesnt feel empty week in week out.
Surely a capacity of 12000 limits the income through gate money into the club and therefore wages we will be able to afford for players .
On atmosphere I been to Darlingtons new ground good atmosphere from both ends (home and away) but a little bit eerie looking at all the empty seats !
We all like to watch a successful team in a full stadium but it will only be 12000. I think the 3 amigos feel thats as goods as it will get but even for the championship that is too small with all the local derbies we would have - we would not have enough space for the demand ! ( given we have a successful team as well!).
-
It was depressing enough to think that the club no longer had ambitions to attract crowds of more than 16,000 for some games.
Have we settled for Bury/Rochdale/Stockport status then?
-
capacity around 12,000! small then ! I'm disappointed with that! Never again will we see 25000+ for a blood and guts cup match or local derby when we have a successful side again! Does it not show a lack of ambition for the club? It will be smaller than Halifax Fc and they are not even a football league club! I was hoping for 15-20000 capacity at least . What does everyone else think ? Apart from that all other aspects I'm okay with- Boundary Park was always going to be worth more to move away from than to develop!.

whats the view on hughesy down there???
still like him??
He's history! There were rumours Walsall were interested though!

Interesting - new squad numbers released number 1 is vacant - obviously for a new no 1 keeper! so it won't be fleming then!

As a Latics fan first and West Brom 2nd ( well my wife is from West Brom and we live less than 5 miles from the ground !) I can give an opinion on Di Matteo - For my money untested at the level -Championship ) and could be a Paul Ince if he doesn't win matches early doors. We were disappointed in Mowbray - demanded loyalty form players and talked about having a long term plan for the club then leaves at the first opportunity (Celtic) We thought we had a manager who was different to the rest but he turned out to be exactly the same as the rest!.
As for Penney I ended the season with despair but I am quickly getting more and more confident about things especially if he can sign the additional 2/3 players he is trying to sign.
Glad we resigned Gregan ( on balance ) he will still make a few ricks but he will be in the right place more times than the wrong place.
Don't think we should even consider ( if anyone is doing so) resigning Hughes -as far as I am concerned he has burned his boats and we should all move on.
can't wait till the start of the season!

I've only just realised Crewe is all ticket (for 'tics fans) and I cannot risk phoning BP for one to be sent in the post to me in Brum, so...... does anyone have a adult ticket going spare?
-
I once went to a Darlington night match against Boston in my Oldham Shirt in the middle of the Darlington fans ( my best mate is a Darlo Fan and Clyde Wynhard was playing for them!). I also had a prematch carvery . when asked was I a season ticket holder I said yes ( but I didn't tell her it was for Oldham ).
It was a good laugh, Clyde even let on to me!
Who is the softest player to ever play for Latics
